The man (Foodstick, now AWOL) who started this club has done one, in which i have had a ride. There are at least 4-5 others in here who have done it too, but no one has written any kind of a detailed how-to or even kept a series of pics that make sense.

If i really scrambled around this site for a few days, I could probably get you enough reading material that it would half-way make sense, but i just don't have the time. Work is busy and yada yada. Best bet is to try and goad the second in charge here, KID, to squeaking open the sesame door and letting some info out about how he worked on the original, and also has one of his own under construction.

BTW welcome to the club, fellow Canuck! :welcome:

and where are you at? Don't fret, you will get your help, just not in one big easy package.

what are you needing to know about it?only thing ive never finished was boxing the front rails and mounting the lower control arms if i ever mange to be able to sit the body back on the frame im going to finish it. pretty simple swap only consideration that needs to be taken is that the track width is wider than the original so youll need to swap out the rear when i get to that point i was going to go measure a 9 inch from a 73-79 those are wider but idk if it will line up with the cv front or not

I was browsing yhis site a while back and saw some pics of a crown vic frame swap, but there were'nt any real details on it. I really liked the way it lowered the truck but I was wondering about any problems that might arise, such as the clearance of the front wheels. is ther a picture out there of one completed? This is a great site , I can' believe howquick I get responses. Glad I joined.

far as wheels you have to run modern style offset wheels (i think negative)such as late model mustang wheels and they line up really well there is a pic in a thread couple months ago dude had some of the gray bullitt style mustang wheels on one there was also a thread probably the same one that explained that they difference between the stock suspension with the stock offset wheels vs the cv suspension with the late model wheels and there was very little difference overall somebody might rem what that im talking bout i think the thread was back in summer maybe july or aug.what my plan was is to get a set of polished alum 17" wheel off a 07 or later stang they look kinda like torque thrust wheels.its pretty good and easy swap just take into consideration what to do with the rear i didnt realize that it didnt line up til a few months ago so when i get my body back on the frame ill decide what im doing with it

It sounds to me that he's referring to the full frame swap, not the 2003-and-up IFS install. The full frame swap is considerably more involved and complex. The bed floor needs to be removed between the wheel wells to accomodate the rear suspension, the cab steps need to be modified to clear the frame rails, inner wheel well clearance is at a premium, and of course one would have to deal with body mounts, the steering column, and a radiator support.

Here's a pic of a complete truck that I took off one of the earlier threads on this subject:

You can also do a search for one of CMenard's threads here. His truck is a non-uni shortbed on a Torino frame. Pretty similar.

Yes , that was exactly what I was referring to. I think it gives the truck a really nice look. I just wondered how this swap turns out. I have a 1985 grand marquis to use for a donor car. I would like to keep it as low as possible.
