NPD may have the same thing, but there is a pre-made one available from RodDoors that fits like a glove. Not cheap, but I think it's worth the expense for the fit vs trying to make a flat piece of plastic work. Their upholstery, however, is horribly overpriced. Just buy the plastic part and cover it with whatever you want from a local supplier.

You want the 2 piece or 4 piece? I've got the 2 piece out of my 62, been laying flat under the bed to use as a pattern, could trace one out for you. The 4 piece is still in my CV project, could remove it the weekend, but it'd be several weeks before it eased itself flat enough to get a good trace.

My Experience with Roddoors;
by Johnny M Canuck

Once upon a time Garbz negotiated a "deal" with Roddoors, when he met them at a swap meet. 10% discount for all club members said the salesman!! OO good deal! So, when I went to get one, the price went up 20 bucks the week I was ordering, from $170 to $190. Took about 3 weeks to get the RIGHT number for the salesman, calling the one we had got you his ex-girlfriend. In those two weeks was when the price went up.

Finally get a call back from the guy, he says "Oh no!!, no 10%, you guys didn't order enough, although I know Garbz, Skip, Chop, Dane, Vinnie, Truckfarmer and several others had already got them. So, no discount. Oh well I still need one, might as well order my carpet there too and just pay once instead of twice for shipping.

Nope.

The headliner comes from California, the carpet comes from ACC in Georgia, where I discovered if I had bought direct from there, I would have paid $200 instead of $500, plus shipping, which Is what i was trying to save.. So, now I am out the 20 dollar price increase, the 10 % discount, one extra shipping and the extra $300 for carpet, a total of about $400 more than what i should have paid. But wait , it gets better.

The Roddoors crook salesman tries to sell me the cover for where the gas tank goes, I can make my own for the additional $200, plus shipping thank you very much.
Salesman says, "Y'know, all you ford truck guys are FRUGAL."

Yeah so frugal I am already out $400. But, then the headliner arrives, without an invoice, so I have a hassle with the border. I get it home it doesn't fit, it's for a 57-60. "Send it back, with the velcro to hold it up" they say, "we'll reimburse you your shipping and send you new velcro tabs!! "You want me to send it UPS from Canada I say? are you sure?" Yes he says so I send it back. $95 dollars more, out of pocket for shipping. Which they never sent me. 2nd headliner and carpet finally arrive, headliner fits, but has none of the velcro to hold it up.

Oh we sell that , it's just another $20 Plus shipping, they say.

So, do youself a favour save at least $515 in extra charges and a lot of hassle, and getting called FRUGAL, and order the same damn thing from National Parts Depot. Order the carpet or something else, too and get FREE shipping for orders over $300.

And leave Roddoors to ROT IN HELL!!.

Man that really sucks, Johnny. Thanks for the heads up, though. :thumright:

I'd guess that us Ford truck guys are considered frugal, when compared to the wealthy guys who just throw stupid money at all these one-off show queen street rods that just stare at the world though the tinted windows of a climate controlled garage most of the year.

JC i know likes roddoors just as much as l like UPS.
:stick:

i have enough headliners of all types for patterns to make my own.
i have a nice Ford vinyl pocketed tank cover, came free on one of the trucks i dragged home.not new but works nice, most of it is hidden by the seats anyway.it is held on by the stock headliner type screws.

i would never spring for the $ for that stuff, i caould buy a sewing machine and my own material or plastic sheets and material for nil compared to that.
and
rodddoors is full of brown and fed-up who do not come to my house,
if they do there is a cost i refuse to pay
they will not ship thru the blue (usps) so
as per my longstanding policy i do not do business with anyone who refuses to ship usps.

You know JC, I still laugh every time I hear that story. I get this visual image of you sitting at a keyboard thrashing at the keys getting madder and madder by the second. :stick: However, I share your sentiment and woes about cross border shopping and shipping :(

It will get better, hate to poke the bear but I am installing wiring and fuel lines.. Smoke by Christmas!!!! :rocker:

While we are on the subject of headliners I have a question,
Is it a good or bad idea to put insulation under the headliner?

I know it will help heat wise but what about moisture, will that be a problem?

Has anyone done this?

Johnny glad you spoke up, I was thinking about ordering some stuff from roddorks. I think I will look elsewhere. Sorry about your troubles, if we ever meet beers on me for your troubles.

The Roddoors headliner looks great and is not a bad product...it is the company and the salesmen who suck!

I called when we had the "discount" and was told the I would not get the discount untill they had 100 orders in from the club! So you are saying that I have to find 100 suckers to buy it at full price so that I can save 10%?? The guy said..."Well if you look at it that way, YES. But you are not the one buying 100 of them so what do you care?" I hung up the phone.

Go with another company that has people who want your biz. Have them deal with roddoors!

The way I look at it, after them shafting me, is that I ain't getting my $515 back, so I will tell as many people as I can this story, and maybe they won't make $515 back from this club either.

Thanks to all who listened and don't deal with Roddoors. I think the NPD product is (ironically) made by Roddoors. And sold cheaper. Looks Identical. Go figure.

Tim , you are on for that beer. SS3, see ya there. :thumright:

ABA...I have the Roddoors headliner, with the insulation glued to the roof before installing the headliner...also a sound deadener between the insulation and roof. No problems so far, and a lot cooler and less road noise.
