Slick 60's

My 64 has a Camaro front end and it's time to replace the coil springs.

The front end is from an 84 to 88 Camaro.

What would be the best springs to use to get the best ride height and ride?

Thats kind of a personal decision isnt it ? Id start measuring and figure out where you think it would look good and look up some performance springs for the camaro.

They can never be low enough for me but thats JMO.

Wow, that's not going to be an easy answer.
First, do you know what the donor was exactly? Second, are you replacing them because you think they are worn out for some reason or you are unhappy with the height/ride?

If you look in, say, a MOOG spring catalog, they will list several different springs for that car depending on engine size, suspension option and with/without a/c (it adds a lot of weight, so those springs will be taller/stiffer). Unless you know what you have now, it may be difficult to determine what you may need.

Then there are a whole slew of aftermarket springs for lowering or better cornering... I don't envy you trying to figure this out.

84 to 88 Camaro's are basically the same car. The front end setups vary slighlty by model V6, V8 or Z28. The donor appears to have been a 350 Z28. The springs are worn out and have twist in adjusters which set the ride height nicely, but I'd rather have just the springs do that which would also improve the ride.

With the wide spread use of this front end setup in alot of older rod's, including old Ford trucks, I was hoping somebody on the board has done this before and could share their experience and what springs they used.

I think Shiny has a Camaro clip under the front of his low down Crew Cab. I do not know what year the donor car was, but you can get in touch with him here on the site.

i bought a parts truck that had a chevelle front clip grafted on it. it sat so low the oil pan practically dragged on the ground.
