Re: What have you done to your slick today??

Prepped the body for lift off next weekend. Took 3 of us about four hours to strip out cab and bed. Plan on sliding the cab back, leaving the front clip.

Re: have you driven your slick this year?

Nope, 10"+ of snow on the ground by the garage. Roads clear though. Pretty much sitting until March. Plan on lifting the cab off riping out the floors the PO put in and welding in the correct floors and throwing in the top loader over winter.

Hallmark Slick ornament

Wife and I stopped at Hallmark to get her 2012 ornament, and low and behold this year they have a red and white 66 long bed ornament. She got hers and bought me the 66.

Took it for another shake-down run. New rad doing the job, temp held at 190. Brake rod adjustment got the brakes working correctly now.

Re: What have you done to your slick today??

I finaly got my new 3-core aluminum radiator installed. Two trips to the custom shop to have some aluminum welding done to have this direct fit rad from radiators4less fit. :cussing: Looks good and really helped to clean up the engine bay, old rad looked like it had been installed with baseball bats...

Re: Help with Brake issue.

Ice - you Da man! - I took the master (non power) out and shortened the rod by 3/16" + adjusted the bolt like you said. Thankfully when I converted to disc I made the rod with some adjustment in it. Everything seems to be working perfect now. I now have some free play at the pedal and pedal fee...

Help with Brake issue.

I did the disc conversion on my 65 using a 73 donor. I'm having an issue where the front brakes lock and will not release. Everything but the master cylinder and proportioning valve are new - Rotors/lines/hose/pad/caliper, even the rear brakes are all new. I can open the bleeders on the front and th...

Re: Where did you get your "LOVE for old trucks" from....

My Dad had an ATLANTIC gas station when I was little, his last tow truck was 1965 f350 - the truck I learned to drive a stick in. At 13 it was my job to pull the truck out in the morning and put it away at night. My the time he closed up shop I was hooking up cars and doing most of the work on a tow...

Radiators4Less

FYI - Bought a 3 row radiator off of them on eBay, said fit my f100, $229 delivered. Rad is nice, quality seems good, however, tried to install and it was 29 1/2 flange-to-flange, rad support is 30 1/2 to the flanges. Contacted them, replied really quick and offered to take it back but I had to pay ...

What Did you do to your slick this weekend (09/22/2012)

Harper and the HAMB gave me the idea we should start this each Monday. The HAMB has the weekly art archive which is a great browse.

I installed new front disc calipers on both sides after the driver side refused to release.

And add to that the giant boom boxes, but to each his own.

Maybe they just need to be taken for a ride in an old big block?

Re: What have you done to your slick today??

I resisted soaking it in gas and setting it on fire! Went to install my new rad I got off eBay, over an 1" too narrow, flanges don't match. Put old one back in now dealing with vendor. Took it on another shake down run, driver side front caliper locks up. By the time I get back to the man-cave ...

I believe you can cut 1/2 of a coil out and it would be OK. Use a cut off wheel if you have one.

Re: What Hurst shifter/tips for installing a top loader 4spd

I've used David Keys before to order the shift cams. I was going to order the hurst set up from him, but there seems to be better deals on evilbay, but nothing listed for a f100. I though about flipping the tranny I've seen them going for as high as $1700, what 5 speeds fit behind an FE? I even thou...

What Hurst shifter/tips for installing a top loader 4spd?

I have a top loader that I MIGHT install behind my 390 in place of my 3 on the tree. The top loader was out of a galaxy with an FE. I have the factory shifter but just eyeballing it looks like it would end up about 8" into the bench seat. What Hurst shifter will work with this install? They don...

Re: Help me find new bed bolts

I bought the bolt kit from DC and yep, all 1/2 shank. Had to grind them down to 7/16" There were 8 carriage bolts, missisng the two bolts that go in from under side. They seem to have that made in China quality to them.
