The place to talk Slicks. All we ask is that discussion has something to do with slicks...

Wiper arm bounce

Post by Brian Taylor »

Before I twist my spine and go under the dash I want to get advice on my wipers. My passenger side wiper works fine but the drivers has a hitch in it getty up. It stalls and jerks when they are on.
I was thinking there is a bushing in the linkage that may have come out causing this>>>>???
Any ideas.

There are some bushings & clips in the linkage - if that stuff gets loose you would be amazed how much slop that can cause for no bigger than they are.

Have the same problem on my tow truck. Found that the aforementioned bushings were worn, brittle and cracked. Also, the splines in the drivers side wiper arm are worn down enough to allow it to flop a bit. I have ordered new wiper arms and am looking for the bushings.

So who has a source for the bushings?

You might want to try a Mustang parts supply house. The early Mustangs pivot arm and connecting rods are similar to ours.

Sounds to me Brian!, you need a PWI, " positive wipe improver"!, they have been found to defrost your windscreen as well, with the heat built up in added friction!, here`s a pic of one a PO installed earlier!

Your right!, it`s basically a spring!

Now that's some great engineering.
