none of those are available here so we just insure ours for the states minimum requirements, they are legal to drive and im covered for the liability issues.
not going to get anything for damages but not paying much to the insurance co either.

I have a policy with Continental Western Insurance. It's an agreed value full coverage policy. Right now my truck is insured for $5000, and it runs $140 a year. The restriction is it's supposed to be a pleasure vehicle only. No "hauling" anything with it, and no driving to work. They are not available in all states.

My '65 is currently under state minimum if you will as I couldn't get ins. on an unfinished truck. I think it is supplement as I have my other 2 vehicles insured thru the same company, all in my name but can only drive 1 at a time. No vehicle worth as there is no theft, fire etc. involved- paying under $100.00 per year.
As soon as it expires, going thru another agent and he got me a quote thru Haggerty, full coverage, no mileage ,towing [ like a Ford has to be towed

Classic Antique auto insurance from State farm Agreed Value policy, they need a writen Appraisal of the truck.
limit of 1000 miles a year, my 65 @ a $4000. value is 92 bucks a year. I have to paint my 63 before they will insure it under a cllassic antique policy. the hood and fender dont match. so... it has to look 3/4 of the way nice at least. Go Figure!

try your local state Farm Bureau insurance.
Are you REALLY going to drive it every day???
If you got multiple vehicles, isn't an old beater truck just for occational trips to the dump, store, wood lot, garage, gas station. I mean gosh thats 5 trips right there. Its old, like me, It probably need a break or nap. Maybe you should only go to one of those places a day instead of all the same day.......

i would not have it any other way.19slick66 wrote:Are you REALLY going to drive it every day???
as to multiple vehicles we have a 1982 E150 van and the rest are slicks.
i might as well be in a foreign country here when it comes to insurance. pretty much stuck with one of the major name brand companys and state minimum, just as well as far as i am concerned, dont want any restrictions on where, when i drive or what i haul, tow etc.
i do understand those with very nice trucks wanting to protect their investment but i dont get the restrictions, as you can insure your brand new 2011 vehicle fully with none.
whats the difference, you pay a premium either way.

I have hagerty on my white 64 and will probably go with them on my 65 this spring once its on the road. I drive my truck everywhere..I even have 1964 plates on it. I dont drive it everyday but if i wanna go pick something up at the local hardware or auto parts store i like taking my truck..If i wanna go out to eat and i have the urge to take out the 64. I do...If i want to drive it work one day, I do. Ive had the insurance and plates on my truck for 8 years now. I drive it around to various places more than I do to go to car shows....But theres so many car events in the detroit area, If i was to ever get pulled over all id have to say is that im going to one...or Im taking it to my shop or a buddys place to work on it....nobodys gonna care, at least in the state of Michigan, and i know so many other car guys who have the same insurance and tags. One guy I knew got rear ended in his 54 customline and hagerty covered it no questions asked. I remember reading something on hagertys page even stating that thier actually kind of leniant on the whole"driving your vehicle to work" thing, because their car guys to and understand we all may want to do that once in awhile to show it off....but if i ever get in trouble for it then I'll worry about, for now I'll enjoy the 180 or so a year for full coverage
I suppose if your planning on driving it EVERY day, as i do my 98 dodge. and itll be clear that its still being used as a workhorse/driver/tow vehicle, then it probably would be best not to use Hagerty and the like...
