Really? That's strange, as the owner is under the impression that he built the bed himself.fire truck wrote:actually, that's how it was built from the get goGritsngumbo wrote:I've seen that truck in the Big Truck forum over on FTE, but I hadn't seen the video. From the owners comments with the video:
The truck had a huge generator on it, but I built the bed out of scrap metal. This truck weighs 7400# empty and I licenced it for 10,000# gross -- more than I will ever need. The chassis is OK for 16,000#.
Cost:
truck - $900
materials - $450 (scrap metal & bed floor)
license - $400 (including title and transfer)

Actually, if it wasn't so far away, this would be a much better base to work from than the one I've been looking at:
http://lexington.craigslist.org/cto/2461048810.html
"3208 caterpillar diesel non turbo and Allison 4-speed automatic transmission. Has 50,000 miles on it. I t has 5 almost new tires 11.00x22.5"
But that N-Series that Michelle has a line on would be just too, too cool and the "correct" Slick age range too!
