64 Rear suspension options
What options are there for the rear suspension on my 64? Greg has told me about lowering it but what I want is to lower it & do a mini tub with the stock wheel wells.
I want to widen the stock wheel tubs & keep the stock rear springs.
How big a wheel & tire combo can I go with? What all has to be done here?

You can use that later axle just by moving the spring perches.
With the right offset you can run a 10" wheel under a Slick.
I'll try to get you a pic of my modded rear spring pack.

You actualy want to widen it to get the biggest tires, unless you are going to get custom offset rims.
A 73-79 9" will get you 31 spline axles and it will widen the rear making standard rims with deep dishes fit. I think you can run a 335 tire in the stock tubs. there is another +2" inches to be had if you tub it, then your current axle might be the right size.
Find the rims you want, and work form there. 335 is a BIG tire.

Thanks for the help here Dan.
So what I'm understanding here is leave the rear the size it is?
I'm thinking about going with a stock looking steel 15" wheel that is widened.
Also what is a 335 tire? Do you me like a 335/60r15 or what?

rear end
I C'd the frame on mine and put the rear end on top of the springs. Used a rear out of a 75 torino and took out some of the leafs. I would like to put a lincoln IRS in one of my other trucks

measured truck
I was out messing around in the shop and measured the height of the bed over the tire and it was about 39" to the top of the bed. when I flipped my rear end I took out most of the short leafs to make it ride smother. Hope this helps
