Depends on how "vintage" the engine, pre 82 have a different balance in the flywheel/flexplate - you will need the right one. I am not 100% sure on the converter bolt patterns - if they would be different. Other than that it would be a normal AOD swap.
This a fairly common swap on early Mustangs (that and T-5s).
Somebody probably has a bolt in Kit that would have a flexplate. You could also (if need be) have your current flexplate drilled for the AOD converter I'd think.

At what RPM range does a small block ford get it's best gas mileage? I'm wandering so that I can figure out what gear & tire to use!

milage is dependant on many factors but aim for about 2200rpm
why put off till tommorow what you can put off alltogether
