Reproduction bed side molding

Post by Kellxr7 »

On my longbed the aluminum trim is pretty beat up and I would like to replace it. Some parts I know I should get from a more reputable vendor like DC who I know sells quality parts, but some parts do come from the same manufacturer as for this part I am wondering which direction to go
Dennis Carpenter $220
NPD....................$190

or I could waste my hard earned money and go with LMC....................$299

just curious if I should shell out the extra $30 and go with DC or save $30 seeing as my truck isn't and never will be a trophy truck.

I`d go with NPD!, they are more than likely of the same manufacturer, have you tried to get some used ones ?, I got a nice set from a member for my cab and bonnet, just missing one of the cowl pieces, for 125$

Rick from Carolina Classics told me that DC makes most of them, while he makes a couple pieces that complete the set. I guess the tooling got split up between the two of them. So no matter where you buy them, they all come from the same manufacturing equipment.

reproduction bed side moldings

Post by 624rick »

Hey, I'm Rick from Carolina Classics. We make ALL the moldings for the whole kit for 65-66 trucks and sell to all the other dealers. No matter who you purchase them from, they all come from here. If you need only bed moldings for the long bed truck, they are $181.00 a pair. However they will go up next time we make some due to rising costs of material, anodizing, and labor, since the last time we made them. A complete 10 piece set for long bed is $647.00, and short bed is $627.00. Right now we are out of stock on door, cowl, and cab corner moldings. They are in the process now. Hope this clears things up for you. Thanks.

Thanks Rick,
Welcome aboard. I'm sure you just opened yourself to a lot of "why dontcha" and technical questions. I do apprecate having our specialty vendors on board, and hope it helps your bottom line as well.

The trim from Rick at Carolina Classics is amazing. I bought my whole complete set from them back in 06 when they were $520.00. I just now put em on this year, they are beautiful. Get em now, cause material costs are only going up. I'm in a metal working field myself and I know. That why I got mine back when I did even though I didnt need em then.

Thank you Rick for helping us restore these classics and keeping history alive!

Rick is a good guy, and I've bought a lot of stuff from him in the past. Good to see he still lingers here. He is involved with our trucks and very knowledgeable. Two companies I allways reccomend Carolina Classics and Dennis Carpenter. There are other members here supplying parts also. These are good people to do business with.

Apologies, Rick, for misleading everyone from a conversation I barely recalled from several years ago. I knew you made at least some of the pieces. FWIW, I did wind up buying an entire set from Rick, and it should be noted they include new mounting clips as well.

And just to add my own two cents worth, you will never find better people than Rick and Wanda to deal with. You know when the business owner has time to talk to you and answer your questions, you have a winner.
I'm not arguing with you. I'm just explaining why I'm right.

One thing to think about when buying new moldings, is that new will not match old. Untill you have the new ones next to old ones you won't realize how much difference there is.

thats a good thing in my case because mine are so beat to $#!+ that they stand out like a sore thumb so if the reproduction set doesnt match it will certainly look better than what it has now.
PS does anyone know how to get ahold of Rick? Does he own carolina classics? I wanted to purchase a set of the longbed moldings after me mentioned his price & the good things people have said about him, but I looked at their site and it states they are $195 a set not $181. I sent him a pm but havent heard back, I sent a message on the carolina classics website but the email didnt go thru for some reason.

Kell.
Google Carolina Classics and call the 800 number. Wanda (Rick's wife) is most likely to answer the phone, so tell her the Slick 60's guys and girls all said hello. You won't be sorry dealing with them.
