Don't really have a build post as I just repainted an 8k mile truck and added a bed and tires/wheels Destone 7:50 x 16 extra traction [loud] tires and new aftermarket wheels.

Elliott,
YOUR NEW TRUCK LOOKS GREAT!
What size are the tires & wheels on your new-2-you 4x4 black Slick?

Interesting treatment on the front bumper and the frame horn area. Is that welded in there or bolted?

Re: New Guy Old Truck (65 F250 4x4)
it's all welded in there and there's a rusty old Sears winch in there, you can just barely see cable coming out in the very center.
i went to check the tire size and had no idea what i was reading, ha! what happened to 285/75 R16 or whatever?
these are the tires on it: 8R-19.5/12 Double Coin RT500 i am going to go ahead and guess it's a 19.5 inch rim?

19.5 it is. Don't see a lot of them.

I was thinking they looked a little bigger than 17.5s

Thats a 17.5 a 2" difference is hard to pick up but something just stands out on them.

There's a nice looking and pretty shiny looking Twin I Beam badge on the driver's side. Did Ford put that on, even though the 4x4 has solid axles, or was that a later addition?

4x4s did not have twin i-beam badges yours would have had ones similar to #5 on each fender where the twin i badge is.(the insert is the same, the mounting studs on the emblem are different for hood/fender placement)

PO probably changed fenders and or fender badge. Look at Tomsrod pic and you will see the proper badge. On my 65 100 4x4 im going to use the fender badge for 2wd and get a plastic insert that says 4 wheel drive. The proper badge should just have Ford across the top and then the plastic insert will read either 100 or 250 depending on the size truck that it is. Looks like Ice beat me to it with a pictorial no less.

On your 65 F100 4x4, the emblem is mounted on the fender. It looks the same as the 63-64 emblems, but like Ice said, it is not. The 63-64 emblems are mounted on the cowl and have one hole on the top and two on the bottom. The 65-66 emblems are mounted on the fender with two holes on top and one on the bottom. The 65 f100 4x4s and the 65-66 F250 4x4s use the emblems like I've pictured here and look like #5 in Ice's post, but again are different on the back side. They do use the same f100 or f250 insert. The 66 F100 4x4s use the same emblem as the 66 f100s, but have "four wheel drive" on the red insert instead of "twin I beam". I've got several extra sets of the pictured 65-66 4x4 emblems if anyone needs some. They can also be found on 65-66 f350s and larger trucks.

Re: New Guy Old Truck (65 F250 4x4)
Had one minor old truck issue so far, the solenoid stuck and the + battery terminal self destructed, spraying a fair amount of lead on the underside of the access hatch. I am guessing the battery terminal was probably already a sad mess, and that's why the solenoid stuck in the first place. I should have inspected that before driving it as much as I have. Oh well, the battery was six years old, but still expensive to replace. Gave the truck some new terminals too. Does anyone make a box or something so the battery isn't so exposed? It seems like a hard life down there.
Also, these seem like nice tires, the wheel rim says maximum tire width is 8 inches, but these come out to 8.8. Is that something you can push, or do you suppose that would be dangerous?

Re: New Guy Old Truck (65 F250 4x4)
i like those tires.
the .8 extra i would not worry about. they may bulge a slight bit but i dont think its enough to be real noticeable or be unsafe. its not like your trying to put 33s on stock 1/2 ton wheels.

Good looking tires, going to make some noise, need to add shipping. This article says the they would need 6" wheels. Maybe just the lawyers talking, I know I've put a bunch of tires on cars/trucks over the years that weren't recommended.

Welcome Elliot. I've heard a lot of guys say they were just going to fix and drive. Somehow or other there is a bug that grabs hold of you and will have you doing more than just drive. That is a good thing though. We like pics here and look forward to what the bug will do to you.
