rocker and pushrod cleanup

Post by RED »

What are some of your suggestions for cleaning up rockers and pushrods? Should i use mineral spirits, gas or just brake cleaner? Did a Google search and got a lot of different answers. Thanks!

Get some Castrol Super Clean and soak them in that. Then rinse them off and wire brush as needed, final clean with brake cleaner, then lightly oil.

Red. Don't use gas. Also, note where the rocker arms are located on the shaft and which hole the push rods come out and make sure they go back in the same place. Clean the rocker shafts inside too.
Note the rocker stand with a hole in it and where it comes off. This passage supplies oil to the rocker arms and lubes them and the valve spring.
But this is a cause of smoking and leaking valve guides because it puts so much oil on the top end. Make a tight fit plug and drill a 1/8" or 5/32" hole in it. Press it in that hole in the head to restrict oil flow a little bit. If you have a machine shop do it, have them thread that hole with a bottom tap and use a threaded plug with a similar hole in it.
I'm not arguing with you. I'm just explaining why I'm right.
Pardon me. Does your deaug bite?
