I ned to figure out which direction to go. Im just not making any progress on my projects.
My 66 needs lots of work that I don't think I can do. I injured myself last Nov and Im still not up to speed. Ive got piles of parts and a parts truck that is just sitting.
I also have a 65 Mustang and about 4k in new parts in the garage.
I found a nice 64 F100 shortbed for 5k and a nice 68 shortbed for 4k, neither of them need anything to be solid DDs. Body and paint on both are excellent.
Do I buy one of those and sell my 66, or find a shop to work on the 66 for me? I have most of the parts I need for the 66, so I would only pay for labor.
My 66 currently has a 352/3 spd, pb and a new dual exhaust. My parts truck has disc brakes and ps. I also have a 4v manifold, new Summit 600cfm carb, new dizzy, and all the misc parts to install all of this. I have the ps brackets and pullys and a new ps pump and hoses.
Im only changing the oil once a year because Im only driving about 3k a year. No oil loss at all between changes. The clutch and tranny are good. My parts truck has a 390 and 3 spd that I can keep for spares. I also have a Mustang gas tank for under the bed and all the stuff to make that work.
Lots of good reasons to keep the 66, I figure that I can do one project a month and that should ease the pain of paying for the labor.
As a side note the misses found a lakefront fixer upper that she wants to buy as a second home. I don't know how I can manage that if I cant change a intake on a pickup truck.
What say you?

Re: Decisions?
Sorry to hear about your injury. I say buy the 64 and keep the 66! If you're anything like me you will regret getting rid of one of the children!!! Everytime I get rid of one I usually wind up buying two or three more, so be careful. This can get ugly if the little misses catches on to that trend (trust me I know). I personallly won't let anyone else touch any of my trucks. I figure that there is no one to blame but myself if something gets screwed up. The few times that I have let someone else get involved with a project, I've wound up redoing half of what they did anyway. Just be careful who you let handle your truck and make sure they actually care about the quality that they put out. In the end only you know what will work for you, but good luck whichever way you go.
Re: Decisions?
We were looking at new Harleys Friday. I told her I really liked the 2014 water cooled Limited. She was all ready for me to sign and ride. That's 30k OTD. I have a super nice Honda to ride so I told her I didn't need to spend another 30K on a new motorcycle.
My way of thinking is that I have authorization to spend up to 30k.
Whats the difference between spending it on a Harley or a Ford?

because you're "authorized" to spend money doesn't mean you should do it. save your money and sell what is smartest to sell. from what you've posted sounds like you have to many projects so keep one and enjoy it, get rid of the rest.bmcgc wrote: My way of thinking is that I have authorization to spend up to 30k.

for the most part i agree with what you've said.bmcgc wrote:What am I saving it for? as for myself i get more enjoyment out of commiting more time and money to one project than trying to budget limited time and money to several. depending on your finances and time schedual that may or may not be an issue.
bit of a side note but as for retirement i suppose that depends on your expectations. my expectations have increased over time hence the desire to save money.
good luck with whichever way you go..

We have planned well and unless the good old USA gets nuked or we end up fighting a civil war over class warfare, we are pretty much taken care of.

yeah the current push toward socialism from the far left is alarming. in my area i see a lot of people intentionally living off the system, it's become a generational way of life and i'm expected to pay for it?bmcgc wrote:We have planned well and unless the good old USA gets nuked or we end up fighting a civil war over class warfare, we are pretty much taken care of.
