Dropped Spindles for I Beams!

Post by Shawn F. »

Does anyone here think that they will come out with some dropped spindles for I Beams? I am hoping they will do that sometime in the next year or so since I know a lot of people have been asking about them and I contacted a few companies about it. 2" and 3" would be nice that was I don't have to get a MII and have to pull the motor, etc to weld in a new clip, etc. I still think that there is SOMEKIND of spindle out there that is aftermarket dropped that will fit onto our slicks. Even if they aren't dropped then to change the bolt pattern so we have more of a variety of a wheel to choose from... Anyone hear anything about this lately? Would be nice to have this happen. I am going to call Fat Man's soon and see if they know, the guys there are pretty knowledgable on front ends and might know of a spindle that will somehow adapt or fit our trucks...

Not dropped beams. Reason for that is because they only lower 3 inches and I want about 5 or 6 inches. IMO the 3" does not look that lowered... I want the bottom of the front fenders to be just over the 17" wheels I plan to run on the truck...

I have had the drop beams on a 65 and it did not drive very well. If you want 5 or 6 inches of drop, you might as well go for the MII. Drop beams dont handle great, and when you are at full steering lock, it will stay that way in stead of coming back around to straight.

Contact a company called Jamco? They have dropped spindles for some real obscure vehicles like Mercs, shoebox Fords, 49-52 Chuvy. Maybe if enough people asked, they might consider it.
If you drove a Ford, you wouldn't need a good wrench!

I have the drop I beams from DJM. I would like another inch or 2 but would have clearance issues. I have 17x8 255x60 in fthe front. Would have to go with smaller tire wheel combo to fit. :(

Yeah I am thinking... If we all on here and other Ford sites got together and Called or Emailed a company that they might consider to start making them... That would be very nice and I would of course buy some for now until I found another front end and had the money and time to do another front end. I wanted to get 17's all the way around on my 66 but I think I might just do 15's in front and 17's out back. Or 16 up front but not sure yet.
I don't know how well the whole thing with getting everyone to contact Jamco would work but maybe we all give it a try???

that sounds like a caster problem.

I heard in another post that someone had a pair or had seen a pair, but no one knows who made them. Droped beams are the only way to go if you don't want to do a ne crossmember and all that. The MII I think could be done without pulling the engine. You would just have to suspend it with a hoyst.

I'd like to bump this thread back to the top if possible and see if anyone here has found anything out about dropped spindles? I am thinking of buying the dropped beams from Doc on here and just wait for a MII front end until I get the time and money to get one bought and put in...
