Got the racing bug again - Slick for sale...
Well I hate to say it but I am thinking of selling my little 66 project. I have regained my desire to drag race again and feel that my powerplant is really better suited to that application than the slick... So it will be sold without motor/tranny. I can only have one toy with todays economy.
I will put together an add soon - but if someone is interested in the Texas / Oklahoma area - send me shout.

I was thinking of doing that - but Slicks are too heavy and not really an optimal drag vehicle.
I was planning to chop the frame, install an IFS, 4 link, bag it & shave everything... This truck is a perfect restore for someone else before I go and butcher it up.. I feel that I am saving its life by selling it.
When I total everything up I want to do to the slick, its going to be well over 40-50k. I can get back into racing for 20K.
I will take some pictures when I get home so you guys can see the state of it.

More on the choice to the sell the slick....
My new plan is to transplant my engine/tranny into a roller mustang drag car. I can be out at the races by the end of the month. The slick would be about a 3 year project. Texas is a great place for racing and I may only be here for 3 years.
The real end plan is to play with the drag car for a year and purchase a Factory Five AC Cobra kit and build that up. I would then sell the roller drag car and transplant my powerplant. I can build the AC Cobra for the same cost as the Slick and it will be scary fast.
For anyone interested in my slick - it has a zero rust cab that has been sound deadened, new cab mounts, rebuilt twin I beams, blasted & painted frame and new wheels/tires. Blasted and primered doors, fenders, inner fenders, hood, grill etc etc. I am looking to get $1200 out of it. A lot of the grunt work is done! It is the perfect retore base.
A pic of the car I want to build............

Go for it MAX.. I can always store it until pate (or until you can get up here) if you want, I will add it to the pile. AZLE is very close to my house...Max wrote:Very tempting for a twin I-beam roller!

Poweradded66 sorry to hear your getting out of the slick business. I have a person couple houses down that does the mustang racing thing.

Hate to see you sell it!
You can make them fast for sure. My friend had one that went low 6's in the 1/8th
But, if you decide to get rid of it for sure I would be a buyer.
I always think its cooler to see something go fast at the track that shouldn't be! Everyone can do the weight to cubic inch math and know how fast it would be in a lightweight. Always an option.
Chris, I appreciate the offer but am very content with my current project. If I had a shop like yours, then I would definitely be interested. Have spent too much time and money on mine.

Waiting on your ad and pics. I am about 250 miles away.
How much of a better feeling it is to spank a dime-a-dozen fox or sn95 mustang with a big iron slick. I know-I do. I suspect dwbr & heavy hauler do the same.
I was really looking forward to a turbo-slick. Sorry if your situation prevents that economically. Sucess in whatever you decide ! --David

I'm also waiting on your pictures, I could use a good cab for my 66 rebuild. My cab has a lot of rot in it, and I would be money ahead with a rust free cab. My problem is getting it to Maryland.

Perhaps someone can be found to deliver for you......
Any of the club that has seen your pics knows that you do good work and deserve a better cab to start with than what you have......

Gents,
I promise to take pictures on Saturday. If there is anyone near where I live that wants to come take a look at the truck to vouch for the others, its no problem. I definately want to sell it to someone on this board cause you guys have been great and very helpful - even for my silly questions.
Please Slick 60's find a good home for her - cause I would hate to have to put it on Ebay!
BTW, I did buy the drag car tonight, so the slick now should to go to make room. Say what you want about stangs, but at least I bought a ford. You guys won't believe the stuff that came with the car. I'll put some pictures up of it as well once it arrives.

Man, my dads putting up a new building and its a temptation to fill it with this sort of thing. But I don't need another slick. But then, I have always wanted one with a 460. Sort of one on both ends of the spectrum.....
Just dreamin' -- my wife would kill me.
Besides, I think I need a beater first.

Some Pics
Here she is guys! You will get everything you see. Pay special attention to the cab corners in the pic - this truck is awesome. Some parts not included are seats, carpet, front window and box. Everything else is included to finish this truck. I have boxes of stuff. Note that I have only primered the truck and did not do any body work - I think thats a good thing ;)
I will be selling the grey leather explorer seats and brake upgrade separately.
I am also selling an unassembled short block 306 with all the machine work done and a ton of new parts. A set of Ported Twisted Wedge Heads ( I have a crazier set of race heads now), complete stock mustang EFI Fuel injection and heads, including computer. Long tube headers, Twisted Wedge Valve Covers, Harland Sharp Roller Rockers, Miloden Front sump Pan.
I know someone here is going to want this.... a T5 tranny from an 88 mustang - shifts nice. Lots included.
I will put an add together and post some prices in the for sale forum. Thanks everyone for your support - I'll be back building another slick once I get the drag racing and building of an AC cobra replica out of my system.
I don't buy junk - so rest assured you are buying good quality parts.
