Manual Disc Brake Kits?

Post by rickrob16 »

Hope everyone is warm back in the States. It's cold here in the "Arctic Circle" (RUSSIA).

I need some information from you experienced Slick 60s fans!!! Which company makes the best Manual Disc Brake Kit for a 61 stepside?? What is the difference between the rear brakes on a 61 and 66?? I have looked online. I don't see a difference! Thanks!!

When I put disks on my 62, I opted to get the full kit from ECI, since I don't have any Junkyards close enough to do some scrounging. Their kit supplies all needed items except the brake hoses, proportioning valve, and the Master Cylinder. Not required, but in order to get the really fine adjustment on the wheel bearings, I also bought the disk brake adjuster setup for the spindle. It also was purchased from a local parts house. I purchased the MC from LMC and the hoses from a local parts store. Their kit is pretty straightforward to install. While doing the disk install, I also did the rear drum brakes. I installed new shoes, and bought the hardware kit for the later rear so I would have the self adjusters. As far as I know, the self adjuster setup is the only difference. I installed all this somewhat over four years ago and have not had to touch any part of it since, it just keeps functioning perfectly. Any help I can be, let me know.
