Disappointing Experience

Post by DFM1 »

I though long and hard about if I should do this post or not but after reading jecsd1 recent post I decided to share an experience of mine. So here goes.
In early September I contacted "azratrod (Aeric Braaten) about buying a 64' cab he had listed. After reviewing the pictures he sent me I decided to purchase the cab providing he could hold it for 2 to 3 weeks. Aeric said no problem so in good faith I sent him $500 to hold it. A few days later I was reviewing the pictures again and realized that I had overlooked the fact that the firewall had been severely butchered for a new exit location for the steering column. After discovering this I realized that this was not the cab I wanted to start with and on top of all of this my and I had just suffered extensive damage to our house and propery from hurricane Ike. I called Aeric and explained our situation and how sorry I was about backing out and me having kept the cab tied up for 2 weeks. Aeric was very understanding and said he would be happy to return my money but he needed a little time to come up with it. I was happy with this. On December 4, 2008 after a 3mo wait I sent Aeric another e-mail as a reminder. Aeric comment to me was as follows; He had not been able to find my information and was hoping to hear from me. He said send me you address information and I will send you a money order. I immediately sent my address information. On January 4,2009 after I more month I sent another e-mail telling Aeric how we also could use the money. I received no response from him this time. It has now been almost 5mo's and still no money. FYI, all of the above statment is documented in our e-mails to each other. I do feel bad about this but at this point I don't know what else to do. :(

$500 cab

Post by azratrod »

don, the cab is still here and as i promised the money will be sent back to you. i thought that i had responded to all of your emails. im not hiding (im here every day) or a shaddy guy. ive met a few guys from this board in person and those board members can atest to that i shattered my hand, had to have multiple surgeries, have been out of work and scrapping by on a meager workers comp settlement.

just so everyone knows... this is not a case of me ripping of don on purpose and disappearing into the internet oblivion like some scammer. don sent me the money for the cab, he was invited to my home, had made plans and had dates on coming to az and picking it up. i thought the deal was final. i unfortunatly spent the money he gave me for the cab on my slick. now in hind sight i should have waited to cash the money order. when don did change his mind about buying the cab. i told him to give me some time to get the money together. then the storm hit texas and a short time after that i broke my hand

im appologizing to don again and want everyone else to know that i stand by my word and he will be paid in full. don is a good guy and has been more then patient. i understand why hes upset. i would be too.

Aeric, thanks for the response. One last comment. You never once mention that you needed to sell the cab before you were going to return the the money. On 12/4/08 your last e-mail to me stated, Quote: I haven't been able to find your address. I was hoping to hear from you again, "send me your address and I will send you a money order. That was 7wks ago.

I am willing to let the post die right now.

`62 stepside

i may be sticking my nose where it doesn`t belong, but if you are still looking for a cab, i have a `62 from oklahoma (complete truck), stepside that i would sell for $400. the only bad thing is the steps are rusted thru below the doors. i have replacements, but they would need to be installed. cab corners need replacing too. bed is pretty good. has bad 223, 389 rear end, 3 on tree. i`m in lake jackson, 40mi from you. call 979-299-9651 if interested. need to know pretty soon as i plan to take to college station for storage soon.

Im not trying to take sides or rub salt in a wound either ,but I have had a totaly seprate experiance that happend recently. Im proud of the fact that Im trustworthy and always come through on all my hand shake deals. I was working and rolling on just fine last year. I decided to take my boss up on a offer to buy 5,000 worth of lumber to finish a remodle on my house. He sold it to me wholesale and was holding 60.00 a week out of my paycheck. which was cool. On a seperate deal i bought a 4 speed OD tranny from one of my buddies for 400.00 and gave him 100.00 and was paying it out . then 50.00 on two seperate ocasions ,leaving me oweing him 200.00. Then all hell broke loose when i broke my foot and couldnt work. It wasnt long till I lost my cell phones and breech of contract. ran out of propane for cooking and hot water.Hardly any firewood we were burning anything scroungeable.I had no money what so ever coming in because I injured myself at a camping trip. managed to keep eletric and internet because we home school on line. I got to the point I thought I could limp a little and took a job with my niece. She got stuck with a freezer full of rotten meat because someone screwed her around and got her electricity shut off in a house she was letting her brother live in for free. Anyway, I took 300.00 as payment to clean all that out (with my army gas mask) after taking that 300.00 which I used Imeaditly to put a elecrtic hot water tank in because we had been out of gas for 3 months and heating baths on a 110 plugin burner. Then before i could clean her house I had to go in for a surgery that put me flat on my back for 6 weeks. Now everyone except my boss thinks Im a super@@@@@@@ for not making good on these deals. Ive been back at work five days and limping something feirce and hurting like Hell in the cold, and still cant do much but try and buy firewood and keep the eletric on right now. IT REALLY SUCKS TO BE Down and out so bad your borrowing tolet paper from public reatrooms caus you cant afford it. and regardless of my debitors being upset with me Its easer to let them be mad at me than to admit how destitute i really am to them. The only thing i can do is keep on keeping on, till I can make good on each deal, and I WILL. Guys, I feel for the both of you and just thought it might help knowing that you have company in all things being jacked up. Peace!
