A request to Canadians

Post by gearhead21 »

As a friendly request, could you Canadians please keep your cold air up there? It was a nice 82 here in Texas on Saturday, then you sent your cold air down here and was only in the 50's on Sunday and today, and it is supposed to freeze tonight. It is April, for crying out loud, I should be running my airconditioning by now, not the heat.

I am sure that you will do what you can to rectify this problem.

Thank you :D

We'll get right on that one Tom. Unfortunately, most local canucks here are too busy basking in the heat. We hit 50 yesterday, seen two convertibles with the tops down, lost count of bikes after 100. Nice to finally walk outside with a T-shirt and shorts. It's quite the sight considering there is still 2 feet of snow in places and the creeks are still froze. LAst weekend I was ice fishing and there was 42" of ice on the lake.

 Snowing here in the Ann Arbor area til bout an hour ago. I would be in Toledo by now though if this truck hadn't broken on me last night - every time I pull out with it. My second drop in Detroit won't take me til tomorrow now.

Sounds like you need a real truck Greg instead of that Volvo.

Volvos are usually good trucks, this one has been rode hard and put up wet by more people than a $2 hooker though. It's too old and they don't want to spend any money on it too. Another problem is this company seems to have slipped in to the vicious cycle of super cheap - they over do it so much that they actually waste money in the long run. I used to own my own O/O delivery outfit you go too far and you are in trouble. Then it takes so long for you to see it your in it real deep by the time you realize it. I have lost over a whole weeks pay and over a week of home time in the last 30 days due to this truck breaking down. I may not be able to buy the 61 Uni now even after my GT sells, all total I have lost over $4300 dollars of income since I have been here. Guess how happy I am about this job right now. bang.gif :cussing:

It's 52 and windy right now, I'm glad I didn't put my winter coat away :D

I do remember in the late 60's, when I lived in the suburbs of Chicago, it had been a month or so around 0, and was 36 one evening. I had the top down on the 54 Vette, and was driving around, and went to Skip's (a local hot rod drive in). I used to ride a motorcycle when it was in the 50's. That seemed warm then, but doesn't now. Now that I am acclimated to the Texas weather(and old I guess) I am a wuss with the cold.

I felt that it is Texas's turn at the winter that would not end, and have the door closed tight at the border, sealed up with tape

I filled my house, attic, closets, garage, 3 buckets and 14 shoe boxes full of it. When June rolls around, I'll use some of it and sell the rest. :P
