Slick 60's

Quick update. Today turned out to be a great day I swear it hit almost 80 today. So I sprayed some color and tomorrow I will spray some clear... Just the fire wall but still this is good progress.

After shot with the blue. The truck will be two tone blue and white.

Man that is sweet, I can't wait to see it all done...

I did go camping but got home about 1 ish sunday then mowed the yard and still had some time so I painted... lol... Going to do more this coming weekend. If you want...

Max Yes it will be a bright white. Its a Ford Color (90 ish to 2000 ish) called Ultra white PPG #5061.

tbritt - you should of I was working in the shop most of that weekend. Oh well next time and there is pate swap meet coming up Next month.

I cleared coated on Monday night and last night I removed the masking paper and just had to give it a rub. Damm it is smooth I didn't want to stop rubbing it. (yes I hear the laughter). My wife said fine just go rub on your truck tonight....

This SPI Universal Clear is the best stuff I've ever used. I don't even have to buff or sand it, but it is just a fire wall. I layed down flat on the first try and no runs.

I did not have the big lights turn on when I took this pic. It is a lot darker blue in lower light.

As far as the inner fenders I was planning on a gloss black. Those are on the list for this weekend's work. plus I will coat the inside with the spray on bed liner stuff from SPI.

You won't have any issues with SPI's Clears, they're the best for the buck!!!

Had the same experience when I painted and cleared my firewall. Even without wet sanding or buffing. I used Sherwin Williams, but I'd never done basecoat/clearcoat before and was really suprised.

Where do you plan on running the contrasting color to on your firewall, the cowl/firewall seam or somewhere else?

The white will start where it is grey now. I just taped a line and went with it.

Awsome work being done!!

I got some more work done on Sunday.

1. I blasted the bottom side of the inner fenders and the inside of the doors. Then ran out of blasting media so I could not do the front fenders or hood. I will have to correct that in the next week or so.

2. I resprayed sealer on the inside of the cab. Last time I used the HF gun and it ran everywhere so sanded the runs down and reshoot.

3. Next I sprayed (6 hours later) the blue.


Tonights project mask the dash off and spray the white. Some Cell phone pics below. One day I will have time to download the good pics of the camera and update this and my site.

The over all area sprayed blue. Yes the area's not colored will stay that way. They are sealed and will be covered up by sound deadening stuff so whay waste the color.
