I have been working on engine #2, getting it ready to install in the truck. (Hopefully it's not a big "#2".)
It currently does not have a distributor in it. I purchased a new one for it. I understand it is important to adjust the drive gear height properly. Normally I think all you need to do is match the new one to the old one, BUT with out the old one I'm not sure what to do. I could pull the dizzy out of the engine in my truck if that's my best bet... Please advise me folks..

You only adjust the gear height when installing a new gear. If the distributor already has one on it you do not need to adjust it although it never hurts to double check in case some moron was putting it together. You just need to check the specs in a shop manual (you do have one for the engine right?) Hawkrod
You could buy a Pertronix or Performance Distributors Davis Unified Ignition (DUI) which are both electronic igmitions and repalce the points type ignition. From all accounts both work great. I use the Performance Distributors unit but I have heard that the Pertronix units are great as well. Install, set the timing and enjoy the easy starting!
