Great to hear she is road worthy!

I have about 250 miles on the tranny now. Still......... I found this puddle the other day at a scout ranch. I know it is a little puddle but still it is her first (since it has been back on the road).



I also got the heater working fully yesterday, I needed a vacuum switch I could turn on via a switch. This works the bypass value for heater core.

Brian T and I went to the bone yards on saturday and found some stuff (also picked up a trailer brake control box, 3g 130 amp alt, new switch for power windows (didn't work but I dropped it in coke last night and will test today)) . Was really hunting sway bar setups but didn't find any. Oh well that just means we need to go to barclays.

We have hit the local yards already not much old iron there. I did find me a vacuum switch for my heater control. We will be hitting barclays on the 21 of dec. Depends on the weather.

BUMP! for Updates!!!!

I haven't done much with the truck except drive/use it, I pull the Troop trailer to some of the campouts. Fun to drive, but a problem was learking this whole time. For the past 6~8 months I have smelled a faint hint of electrical burn, not a lot just a little to say hummm (not every time either). The problem started getting worse as things like headlights were not a bright as normal. Then the engine would die sometimes at idle. Very strange
I was helping at a Scouts eagle project and it was raining, made for a fun time working outside in the rain. Went to leave and it would die every time I hit the brakes. Took the gauge cluster out and banged on the ignition switch, then unplugged the break switch. Finally got it home, but it would not start after I got it home.
Replaced switch and semi burnt wires going to ignition switch and still same problem grrrr..


Now I unplug just about everything electrical in the truck (looking for a short) and still only have 3 volts inside the truck and could not find the problem. Finally I took apart the main connector and found this. This was my main wire coming from the battery.


Replaced it with a 10 gauge wire and did not use the connector this time. Now all is working great and my headlights are bright.. That wire explains a lot of things..
Note to self. If you upgrade alternator upgrade the main wire as well.

Glad you found it, Chris. Your "note to self" should be pinned to every electrical upgrade how-to, IMO! Add any acccessories; or upgrade anything, including bulbs, upgrade ALL associated wiring; preferably by transferring load to relays. Add more charging capacity? Upgrade the 50 year old wiring and circuits which were mostly designed for much less potential current flow. Simply added modern replacement headlamps? You probably just exceeded the original design capacity of the headlamp circuit!

Probably more importantly... Did you get the trans looked at? I know you said it was slipping. Hope it's fixable.

Jeryy nope hadn't done anything with it just yet. I did drive around the block to get a 240 out of a 65 f100. A buddy is going with a 302 and I wanted the 240 so we did some horse trading. Trany didn't give me any problems. so yea I need to figure something out but just haven't done it, hard thing to make up my mind on which direction I am going with it.
