I am trying to gather some more information about the AC system currently in my 66 Custom cab. It looks to be quite old and is integrated into the heater and defrost system. There are Fomoco parts on it, but the unit itself has "climate air" written on it. I tried doing a search for climate air for 1966 F250 and came up with nothing. Anyone know anything about this? Here are some pics:
From the pictures it is kind of hard to see the unit. I remember A/C systems from the late 50's and through the 60's called Climatic Air. I had a Climatic air in a 57 once.

I hope I always stay crazy, because I know if I ever become sane, it will drive me crazy.
So anyone know anything about this unit? My main concern is trying to figure out if there is a heater core out there that will work with it so I can get some heat this winter...no catalog lists "w/AC" under heater cores for this year. Still have to figure out how to disassemble it and get the heater core out to do a visual comparison.

I could use some heat right now I am out in the shop working on steering columns and it's chilly!
Are you sure it's got a different heater in it? That is a weird AC unit. usually the stock heater is left alone and the AC is just an add on. Look above that AC unit under teh dash, is the original heater still there?
I am not really sure if it is between the two or what. I traced the heater hose lines into the unit. I guess I am just going to start pulling out bolts and try to disassemble the darn thing and find the heater core. The housings for the two (heater and AC) appear to be made from the same material.
The actual heater portion...or at least where the blower motor is housed has some fomoco markings on it. The blower motor itself says fomoco on it as well. I donno. This is all new to me. Back when I was younger I never worried about AC in any of the vehicles I restored and I think in at least one instance I removed it all to save weight, lol. Guess I am getting older
Just to follow this up a bit. I took the whole thing apart today to clean it all and install new heater core. There is an "adapter" piece in between the heater portion and the AC portion. I am not sure if this is original or dealer installed.
The heater portion was all FoMoCo parts. Everything on it was Ford, including the original leaking heater core. The AC system bolted to the end of it nearest the heater core. Not sure if it was aftermarket or what, but it also was extremely old. All insulating foam in both units had crumbled to dust.
I am not sure exactly what I need to do to get the AC up and running, but for now I have heat again
