I did the cal the last couple years and its not easy getting 12 pictures. Since most pics are taken for general use it seemed to be challenging getting trucks and or truck projects that fit the theme. I guess what I tried to do is tie each picture and its back ground to the season of the month or stick with a theme like the junk yard shots. 12 truck pictures is actually easy if your just looking for any ol slick. Try getting one of each year and no 2 that are the same year or color. Its harder than it looks imo.

Not a show truck, but feel free to use it if nothing else turns up.

Maybe I missed it, but I don't recall seeing any info about photos needing to follow themes or calendar events. I would love to have my slick in the calendar but I'm sure there are much nicer ones among the thousand or so members. It might be easier to select some nice trucks from the gallery and let members vote on the one's they would like to see on the calendar. If you want theme pictures maybe we need to plan a year ahead and announce what themes or events and let members take photos when the weather is appropriate. i.e.: it's hard to take a beach photo when you're up to your ass in snow.
If you understand what you’re doing, you’re not learning anything.

There are no themes. Just people who want thier truck in a calendar. Two weeks ago the idea of calendars was thrown around. I volunteered to try and put one together. i was hoping that people on here would like to get a chance to show off thier truck. i got a few and asked a few but the prob with asking is that people havent responded. I have looked through the gallery and ask ten people i have had responses from 2.
If someone wants to put a poll together great i would love the help. maybe after i finish this we can all start puttin our heads together and put out a nice one.

Probably one way around that issue (if it really IS an issue) is to offer the calendars for free with a suggested donation. I wonder if the legal issue that Ford is pressing is the use of THEIR product, by others, to generate revenue without any "royalties" going to Ford Motor Company (how absurd).

Well the good news is that no one is making a profit off this except for the printer! I can’t open the thread but guessing its dealing with royalties. Since neither the club nor I make a profit I think we are in the clear.
This year I think we just need to run the trucks I am receiving. That way when someone buys a calendar its just good slick eye candy. If some of you guys would like to help over the course of this next year I know we can put out a kick ass one. Maybe get some polls going and season themes. We have to take baby steps. So everyone interested in helping some way let me know. Thanks Jason Nelson.

Just because you nor the club is making a "profit" does not negate the fact that the calendars are being "sold" and money is changing hands. Since I really don't know if that indeed is Ford's beef (money being generated in some form from a product which they manufacture)I don't know for certain if we would be in "trouble" for selling calendars with likenesses of products they produced 40+ years ago.
I seem to remember something about TV shows and movies (a while back at least) would not use brand name products (that you could read anyway) in their filming. Like seeing cans of Coca Cola or Dr Pepper, maybe someone in a scene having a T shirt with a NIKE logo. they would have to pay to use those in their shows/movies. Perhaps Ford is moving in on EVERYTHING in a like manner. Maybe someone else more versed in these matters can correct me.
At any rate, it just seems that Ford is trying to use any and all avenues to generate money for themselves, but in a way that is rubbing some people the wrong way. But maybe this is in conjunction with sagging sales and profits? But you would think that they wouldn't want to "bite the hand that feen them".
(Sorry for the hijack)...

To extend the hijack:
I don't think the fact that someone is making a profit or that it would make a bit of financial difference to Ford is at issue. I think someone at Ford (and/or their attorneys) is just being a jerk and challenging any use of their name or trademarks (or even photos of privately owned vehicles).
I would suspect that the site referred to has used or is using trademarked Ford logos or artwork as a part of their logo or the logo for the calendar or there is some other deeper and obscure issue at stake.
As to the use of products in a TV program, in the industry that is called "product placement" and companies pay "big bucks" to have their products used (sometimes exclusively) in a TV show or movie and not the reverse.
IMO: I really don't think the "intellectual property" argument would apply to the use of a "privately owned" photo of a "privately owned" vehicle. A "threat" of litigation is a common "legal tactic" by large companies against those who don't have the financial means or wherewithall to fight back.

Just to clear up a misconception. I worked for Coca-Cola over 35 years. We paid dearly for any scene that our logo or brand name was seen. The scenes where the actor is drinking a Coke, DP or any beverage with the name or logo facing the camera, it cost the company money, not the film maker. Movies from the early days through current times where everyone had a cigatette, (quite fashonable), the tobacco companies paid a fortune. So like any other business, if you want to advertise your product, you gotta pay.
Jim
