Help me out guys!. After my problem with hood hinges on Lil Red, Take a look at these pictures of Big Red and tell me what my problem is:
A. Bad Hinges
B. Hinges need adjustment
C. Bad fitting fender/needs adjustment

E. Combo of ___, ____ and/or____
F. None of the Above
G. What was the question again?
Thanks in advance for the advice.

i can see in the lower pic the misalignment of the fender , looks like the cab front mounts are possibly sagging a bit by the angle of the gap between the cowl and fender.
i do not think that is the entire issue though, i would be more inclined to say the hinges need work.

I'm voting "E".
Looks like the main problem is hinges, although the fender alignment to the cowl looks as if the front cab mounts may be sagging a little. It also looks like there may be some bondo in the edge of the cowl, along the fender line...so it may be real difficult to get that gap looking perfect.

If you don't play nice, they'll fine your *$#!
It is clear your type 66 is leaning forward, causing the gap at the bottom of the fender. If the body is sunk the hood is held at the core support and it will gap like this at the cowl.
Garbz: Thanks for the info, but what is "type 66?" Thanks.

Grits, I agree with the guys mainly Bad hinges and hinge allignment issues plus a slight influence from the cab mounts.
I understand that your uni is somewhat of a different breed but I just recently replaced my cab mount pads and wow what a difference. When I first set my box on to see how I did I was not too happy with how the box lined up with the lines on the cab on the passenger side but now with the new cab pads it is 100% better. I'll try to find some pics to post showing the difference.
If you want it perfect I would definatly replace the cab/body mounts prior to working on the hinges. I am just not sure what is avalible for cab/body pads for the Uni's.

Hi there. I appreciate your alignment problems. We had the same issues on the truck you see in my posts and they really never got fully addressed but we are aware of the remedy and when I have possesion of the truck again this is what I am going to do to fix it.
I will have to loosen all of the body mounts because it is a UNI the whole body will have to move. Once the body and front clip are adjusted so that the body line is straight the body mounts can be shimmed accordingly. Then a new set of hinges will get installed and the alignment problems should be fixed.

it's the alignment and not the cab mounts. i removed my entire doghouse on my 78 and when i put it back together i had the same thing happen. you need to adjust you hinges. good luck and have fun.

Hmmm, that one flew over my head too. Thanks for the code book, Ice.

To start with I went with H, the mirror is missing!
but then after a second look I`ll go with the cab mounts have sagged and the rubbers and the bonnet is sitting on the radiator support, as Dave said I think it was!.
Alan,
Honey, If I say I`ll fix something I will, there`s no need to remind me every 6 months!!

Alan: Got a brand new "chrome" mirror, but that didn't help at all, so that's not it. I just have to find the time to check out the cab mounts and the hinges. I still haven't figured out how to adjust the hinges to make a difference with the alignment.
If you losen the bolts into the firewall, the hinge bracket can only go down so far (to the lip on the firewall) and that's not enough to make a difference.

is the bottom edge of the bonnet and the bottom edge of the cowl parallel to one another, can you post a pic showing the whole bonnet and the cab from the side?
