Air Body Saw

Post by Gritsngumbo »

Has anyone used one of these for body panel work?

I'm going to need to replace the cab corners, floor and some other misc items on my crew cab. I would really like to have a plasma cutter but haven't been able to justify one with my wallet or the "budget director". I realize that Harbor Freight isn't the best for quality, but I've had very good luck using Central Pneumatic air tools in my hobby activities (nail guns, impact wrench, etc.. I just want to make some clean straight cuts. Thoughts?

Grits, The blades are not exactly cheap but very handy tool. You will love it. We have them in every tool box in the shop. CP is not a terrible name brand. It may be just right for part time use...

Do you mean use hacksaw blades in the air body saw (will they fit?) or did you mean use a hacksaw instead?

Yes good point Lefty, You can cut a hacksaw blade in half for two blades in the air saw. You just may need to use a standard blade in tight spots... Also you will probably need to cut it with a grinding wheel...

That's a good saw. I use the fine tooth blades in mine for sheet metal. Go to NAPA and get the good quality blades. They pay for themselves in the long run. I think Home Depot has good blades also.

Thanks guys. Just placed my order online. Price was only $19.95 and $5.99 for 5 extra blades. I'll also check out the blades at NAPA.
