Upgrades On My 15 yo Daughters 61 F100 Stepside

Post by rickrob16 »

Hey All, I know most of what I am about to ask has been covered on this Forum! I recently bought my 15 year Bolt.gif old her first vehicle. It is a 61 F100. i need to put 4 wheel disc all around, T5 conversion and power assist (she will be a 16 yo girl when she starts driving it)! Any vendors or ideas are appreciated!

I wouldn't waste time/energy/money on rear discs. They aren't going to improve the braking any unless she's always hauling a load. Front discs do a search on here and you'll find plenty of info. T5 behind what engine?

Here are your brakes almost step by step. Dwight is correct, mine stops just fine with the stock brakes on the rear, you give it any better brakes back there and lock up could be a problem.
Toyota 4x4 steering box is the best bet for a PS conversion, I haven't done that yet so hopefully someone else will chime in on it.
The T-5 install is one of the best things you can do to one of these old trucks, better mileage and drivabilty.

You might just consider (for the rear brakes only) going through and rebuilding with the later (64 I think) hardware to upgrade to self-adjusting. This is what I did on my 62 when I did the disk conversion on mine.
