Re: anybody use either of of these brake kits?

I used the Speedway kit on my 63 Unibody. The kit was a good buy for the price.

I bought that kit from Speedway about 2 years ago. I installed it on my 63 but the truck hasn't been completed yet. I was very pleased with it. The brackets were made by CPP as I recall and the installation was easy. you do have to grind a little off the back of the calipers for clearance, but I thi...

I bought my floor pans and cab mounts from Carolina Classics and can say they were of high quality and fairly priced. Quick delivery too. Carolina Classics has a web site with prices.

question about shortening a longbed frame

Shortbed trucks are fairly rare in my area or way over priced. Been looking for a decent one for a long time without success. Would it be feasible to shorten a longbed frame to fit a flareside bed? I know that the driveshaft would have to be shortened and the rear moved foward. Besides that do you t...

As previous post states it is for bracket clearance. I got my disc kit from Speedway Motors. It was less than the other brand and I believe the brackets were made by CPP,as well as the instructions. If you haven't bought a kit yet you might check it out and save a few bucks.

Reminds me of the days of my youth when I worked at my father's Esso station. Wash the windshield, rear window, offer to check the oil even if the customer only got $1.00 worth of gas. Now you are lucky if the attendant ( I live in NJ where there is no self serve) can even speak English.

Power box from a 79-84 Toyota 4x4 truck can be adapted. Very similar to the 48-60 swap in this article. http://www.ford-trucks.com/article/idx/10/218/article/Toyota_Steering_Box_Swap_For_19481960_Trucks.html Also NoLimit Engineering in Ca. makes a custom rack and pinion unit but its pretty pricey. I had a similar problem years ago with a 48 F1. It turned out to be a corroded ground connection. Check to make sure your main grounds are clean and tight. Hope this may help you.

Not sure about the Auto Air waterbase paints, but most waterbase paints must be topcoated within a certain time or you face the possibility of the clear coat peeling. I use the new waterbase base coats daily in the shop I work at and am very familiar with the Sikkens line of paints, so if any of you...

I think that boxing it in that area will be the way I go too. I forgot the rear spring mounts tied in there. I am still gathering parts and ideas at this point but the real work will begin soon. Thanks Jim

Crossmember Question on 63 uni

I am going to install a 5.0 and AOD trans in my 63. If I use the aftermarket crossmember type motor mount and trans crossmember, would it make sense to remove the original crossmember on my frame after they are installed? It looks as if it would be of no use if the other two are installed

Steering box adjustment

Could some one please tell me the proper way to adjust my steering box for play. I have a 63 Uni that I recently got and the previous owner loosened the nut and just backed off the adjuster screw. I dont want to damage the box although I am not sure of the condition of it .

302 block huggers will work, but Sanderson headers in San Francisco makes headers specific for the 351W. I think the only diferrence is the length of the pipes to where the collector is. Check them out or call them.
