I agree with the other posts. You probably didn't hurt the bearings, but they probably are worn...they are a wear item. If you want peace of mind, cut open your filter. If you lost any bearing material, you'll see it inside.

Re: Grrr, drops of oil on the garage floor

I have a power steering box that leaks. It's been rebuilt, then retrofitted with a new seal at the adjuster screw....still leaks. What a pain...

Bear in mind that changes always lead to more changes. More power means a brake upgrade. Then you might as well change to power steering, and how about the rearend? Yes, rebuilding the y block will be expensive, more expensive than a used 302 and AOD, but why not consider finding a good used 292? Mi...

Just my 2 cents worth, but I always like to paint my engines flat black in order to help get heat out of the engine, and exhaust manifolds silver to keep heat in until it goes out the other end. The stock colours look like they will do that. However you decide, post some pics so we can see it when i...

I use a regulator with my Edelbrock on my 545 stroker. I like to know what my pressure is at, so putting in a regulator seems to be a good way to do that.

It is a very nice truck. In tough times it seems like a lot of money, but I think it would cost at least that much to restore one....

Hey Dion,
I always like to use flat or at least low-gloss black, especially on a modified motor- I want to get rid of the heat. Headers and exhaust can use silver 'cause you want the heat to go out the end. Just my 2 cents...

Thanks for the correction, Bobbyford. I mixed up the names for Scotty's and Barry's shops. Hey Dion, we still have to get together. I'd love to see your truck, and of course you're welcome to check mine out as well! For those who are interested, I believe Barry has published a new book on the 390 as...

X2 on the thumbs down. I just spent a small fortune on a similar swap- a 545 stroker into my 1966 F100. It's not just the motor: you have to consider all the other stuff- the tranny, the drive shaft mods, the radiator, the engine ancillaries, the starter...etc, etc. If you want more power go to Rein...
