tow truck

Post by 64shortie »

Spotted this tow truck sitting outside a local repair shop about six months ago and have been admiring it since. Today I finally stopped in and asked the owner about it. He told me he bought it at an auction about four years ago. When I asked if he would consider selling it he said "hell yes, I'd like to get it outta my way". Well now, I asked the scary question of how much. He said he would take just what he had in it. What do you think guys? Should I give him $1500. Everything on it works and it runs like a top. He started it up and we took it around behind his shop. There he hooked to a junk car and it lifted it up with no strain. He ran all the gizmos and it all works perfect. Has a 292 Y block in it that has been mildly cammed with 4 barrel carb and headers installed. And a four on the floor tranny. He says it's a 62. Correct??

Like the others said - if you don't buy it, we will.

Buy it before the owner starts checking around for what it is really worth.

Hmm 925 miles away umm no don't buy it, bad deal. Umm can you post more pics like with the street signs legibly showing or a local business sign?

All kidding aside looks like a great deal, the truck is probably a 62 cab apepars to have the low 1961-1963 roof but has a 1966 grille and upper turn single panel.

Not that it makes a difference in whether or not to buy it, BUY IT! or let one of us know where it is but looks like a mishmash of trim/fenders/grill off pre-64 and post 64 trucks. The front end sheet metal looks to be a 66, while the exterior trim and the dash pad appears to bes 65-66, but the cab has steps like a pre-64, unless it's a 4x4 cab. Anyway you cut it...$1,500 is a steal.

Just one more voice saying buy it, at that price even if you decide it was a bad idea someone here will be glad to take it off your hands
