'53 Plymouth Cranbrook Survivor

I just towed my Grandmother's 1953 Plymouth Cranbrook from New Mexico. It was last registered in 1977. It has 79,000 miles, original paint, interior, and drivetrain. The seats, headliner, and door panels are like new.
My uncle who has had it since '77 couldn't get it to run since 2002, he got frustrated and let me have it. I opened the hood and saw the 6-volt negative battery cable attached to the block, I just shut my mouth and loaded it on my trailer. It took about 2 hours and $103 to get it started. ( a new battery and a voltage regulator)
This car only needs a rear tail light lens and the PLYMOUTH script on the trunk lid.
I have been looking for a "survivor" car show around here to enter her in. From some of the cars I've seen in this type of show, I have a trophy winner here!
I just wish grandma would have been into Mercs or Buicks, or Fords, but a free car is a free car!

Great gift truly a surviver clean it up and drive it to as many shows as you can.

AACA would love that in the HPOF class (Historical Preservation of Original Features). At their larger shows you'll get to park with other un-restored cars like that. Some pretty amazing stuff in that class. They are only original once!

Looks the part of the little old lady's car. How about a shot of the engine is it the flathead six , manual or auto trans?

Hey Bard's dad, that is a nice score. Were early fifties Plymouth's, like early fifties Ford's, positive ground?

I am surprised to find that they had Cranbrooks in the States. I have seen lots of them up here, but I thought they were Canada only cars, since they are named after a small town in BC

Yeah, it is a flathead six, and yes it's positive ground. When I saw that negative cable bolted to the top of the engine I just smiled inside. I'm sure i wouldn't have gotten the car if it were still running.

It is a 3-speed with overdrive.

The Cranbrook name was used extensively through the 50s on Plymouths down here. Sorry, Johnny, nothing special about Canada on this one.
