First I just want to say thanks. I thought I had a plan for this truck and then I started seeing what everyone else has done and really changed my thought process. So I just want to thank everyone for ruining my plans! LOL You guys have some really great rides and the information I got from this site has been a BIG help. THANKS.

I bought this truck for $300.00 and another $100.00 for an inner finder, hood, 4 stock matching wheels and some misc. parts that I knew I would need from the initial inspection. It came with a big 8 and trans from an E van that is supposed to be in working order (???). I have a 390 bolted to a C6 in the 79 I'm going to swap with and upgrade to disk brakes, power booster and power steering.

I'll have some sheet metal work ahead of me with the typical rust locations. Driver's side seems to be the worst.

Welcome to the place for all slickaholics.... you're among friends here.... Are you planning on this being your daily driver or a special occasion truck?? You look as if you have a nice start there, just keep us updated....

I got the fuel tank out and I plan on to have the cab ready to lift off tonight. Heater core, remainder of interior knobs, master cylinder and the 3 remaining bolts and it's ready. Now if I can get my helper to operate the lift.....

I have a 14 mile round trip to and from work so I plan on driving the truck most of the time.

Ok someone tell me the best way to get the front window trim off without damaging it? I'm not sure how it sets in the channel and I don't want to force it.

it comes out when you pull the windshield.

I was replacing the rubber any way so I cut the rubber from underneath with a snap off cheap razor knife, removed the windsheild, took rubber off windsheild then took trim out...

I think that is how I did it 2 1/2 years ago....

I like that color combination. Going by your pics, the exterior sheetmetal looks pretty straight.

dotcenteral - I do like that color and I'm torn between that and black over smoke grey. I'll have plenty of time before that crossroads. I'm thinking two glasses of beer and a quarter to help me with the decision process. LOL

I recovered the trim in good shape. Thanks guys.

I'm enlisting help from some friends for Sunday Morning to get the bed and cab off. Then I'll start the 79 next week to get at the frame.

I have mine sitting on a '76 highboy 4X4 chassis and am enjoying every minute of it. I am looking forward to your build of my trucks alter ego...... the 2 wheel drive version. Just remember to post a lot of pics and keep us updated.....

I got the cab off and the 79 moved to the shop. Striping the body off the 79 next week and starting the sheet metal on the 66 next weekend. Does anyone know if the 79 cab to frame mounts can be used on the 66? Both the front mounts are shot on the 66 and like knew on the 79..

Snow on the ground but I was able to get some work done in the shop on the cab. I really want to get busy on the 79 frame but oh well.

Oestion - the dash vents are bent from the factory I assume? Both were the same but I thought I would ask. I couldn't find a picture with the right angle the see if others had the same bend.
