I need helpful advice guys. My 66 F100 Custom Cab has a seat installed by my Dad in the early eighties. I believe it is from a mid to late seventies dent side. It is more "cushy" and thicker than I remember the original seat with the lightning bolt emblem on back being. Anyway, I am 6'2" / 265lb., and the steering wheel and my stomach interfere with each other. It looks to me like the later model seats may be "thinner" than the one in my truck. There is currently a bench seat from a 94 on my local craiglist for 50 bucks. It has headrests also. Will this seat fit my truck OK, or should I try to find an original slick seat to re cover? I really need a little more belly room to be comfortable.
What kind of fabrication would it take to install the 94 seat?
And if I do it, does anybody need a really nice tan truck seat from a "dent"? LOL
if the 94 seat is similar to the 80s seats it will work with some minor modifications. you will need to use the brackets from your existing seats.
on the 80s seat i got last year for my uni i had to use my brackets and remove the bar and levers that keep the seat back from flipping forward because it hit the gas tank.

This is something I am interested in as well. When I bought my truck it had a seat like you are describing. It seems to sit high. One of my buddies almost hits his head on the roof. How high does yours sit off the floor? I can go measure mine if you like.
1965 Ford F350 Crewcab, currently getting a Cummins 6bt conversion.
the seat is a more or less direct fit, but does reqire a little 'fab' work, i installed mine in less than an hour.
what you do is use your old seat brackets(ones that bolt to the floor) and bolt the new seat to the old brackets problem is that one has bolts one has nuts and studs it isnt that hard to figure out , i cant remember the exact procedure but i do remember the seat track lever needed a little bending to clear the tracks. but like i said it can be figured out and installed in an afternoon
No, its not a windsor or a cleveland, its a three fifty TWO!
Remove the sliders and bolt the seat directly to the floor. Install a 78 tilt column with a 53 steering wheel. Plenty of room now even for big people. Carry a pillow in case some runt needs to move your truck!
My 80's bench seat bolted right in using the original holes. The front two brackets are angled on the modern seat but will still line up with the holes using longer bolts. The modern seat IS thicker and higher, so if you have room issues, you may want to recover the existing seat.
Mine is all the way back and I find myself needing a smaller steering wheel!
