Well, I’ve been looking for my first Slick since last August, being patient, getting lots of insight, tips, and info about these Slicks from the Forum while I was hunting for mine…out there somewhere. I surprised myself when I found a ‘66 F-100 CC with a 352, automatic, and she even has my favorite two-tone colors! The ad was posted in January on CL, listed out in Jones, OK and I bought her from the original owner! There are more pictures of my Phoebe in my album (I know – gotta have pictures…more pictures!). And, Surprise! She really does run (drove her onto and off the trailer used to bring her home). My plans are to re-build her as my pet project, a classic truck just to enjoy and to tinker with as I get the urge to do this and that. I’m already looking for a ’73 –’79 donor truck around here to swap out the frame and update her with disc brakes, pwr steering, new wheels, some AC, but that’s down the road. Right now I’ve got plenty to do getting her out of the shop and closer to my own home. A Big Thanks to everyone here, especially all the ‘regulars’ on the Forum; each contributing their part …it’s working! I really enjoy my daily reads.

Thanks Chris...yeah, I had to pinch myself when I first saw her, didn't expect that she would still be for sale two weeks after being posted on CL...

Thanks Tom, she is in pretty good shape, well we do have rust issues, no surprise; front radiator support, both front cab supports are shot, the battery tray has marginal rust-out spots, and the cab center support, both sides. I figure that Tom at Flashback F100’s can fix me up with what I’m needing to fix those problems

Welcome!!! Nice truck..

If you are thinking about a frame swap ask around for opinions.. It seems to be a ton of work with little gain.. The brake and steering parts can be switch right over to your slick..

Welcome aboard, Carl! :welcome:
LOOKS LIKE ONE FINE SLICK YOU'VE GOT THERE! :thumright:

If I was your nosy neighbor, I'd walk over to snoop/see your new-to-you Slick.
Of course, being the outspoken neighbor that I am, you would expect me to voice my observations and opinions as I typically do. I would probably start out like this:

-- VERY Nice!
-- Looks like it has a later ('67/'72) tailgate...
-- Cool that the original seat back still has the center stamping. Maybe you can cut it out with a portion of the center section of vinyl have it sown into/onto a new seat cover...

-- WOW, I haven't seen an Ooga horn on a vehicle in a while.
-- Looks like you won't be bored while driving, since you've got an 8-track player, a CB radio and the OE AM radio all going on!

-- Seems to be missing the inner door CC plastic panels and trim work and the headliner side panels...but it does have the side door pockets; COOL!

-- What are those - :dontknow: dual hidden fuel tanks accessed from the wheel wells?
-- Appears to have aftermarket/newer-model door mirrors and fog lights on the front...
-- Are you going to keep those 'rabbit ears' CB antennas or change them to something else?

-- COOL, you've got all four hub caps! If you don't want to keep them you can turn them into money to use for your upgrades!
-- Yeah, I'd be upgrading that single reservoir master brake cylinder too...

-- I wonder where that hood ornament came from? :dontknow: We know it was NOT a factory option for this truck.
-- I like the period-correct rifle rack! I wonder if the LH side section is under the seat? Nevertheless, You'd be surprised how well a hat, a length of cord, bungies, etc. will hang on 'em!

-- Since you plan to rebuild the drivetrain, do you think you'll rebuild the 352/COM or will you step up to a 390/C6 combo?

Good Luck with the upgrades and keep us posted on your progress!
BarnieTrk

BarnieTrk,

Thanks for the welcome and your reply.
-- Looks like it has a later ('67/'72) tailgate...

Yes, I know that at some point the PO had re-painted the truck, keeping the original colors....found some other 'repairs' elsewhere..
-- Seems to be missing the inner door CC plastic panels and trim work and the headliner side panels...but it does have the side door pockets; COOL!
Image
Talking to the PO he said he had removed the door trim and panels to make replacements....found them and put them in a box with some other things he thought I would like to have... only the driver's side has the zippered storage....but it is too far gone to us....I like them, but I don't want to pay the going price so I'll put in panels for now
-- What are those - Dual hidden fuel tanks accessed from the wheel wells?
Image
Yes, PO had them added when he ordered the truck, the tank selector switch under the driver's seat matches an original option picture
-- I wonder where that hood ornament came from? Dont know We know it was NOT a factory option for this truck.
I asked the PO and he said it was salvaged off an old Pontiac, but I didn't find anything about it ....Anybody have the answer?
-- I like the period-correct rifle rack! I wonder if the LH side section is under the seat?
Image
It's hiding behind the seat...lost the top screw, hanging but the bottom one
-- Since you plan to rebuild the drivetrain, do you think you'll rebuild the 352/COM or will you step up to a 390/C6 combo?
Oh yeah, at some point I will be changing the motor and tranny...not sure what combo yet, definitely an AOD
Thanks, Carl

Welcome looks like a good truck, those fuel tanks are different. There sure are a lot more North Texas folks around these days. If you don't know about Pate swap meet do a quick search. We have a good time there plus party at my house friday night. :D

I think Brian T has a disk setup for you 66, I think he's still selling it. He is down in Grand Parie. I am currently upgrading my 65 to disk with parts from a 77. I just got new King pins installed.

Welcome from So Cal, looks like a great truck!.. What's that white stuff all around it? Reminds me of that cold junk stuck to the frozen waffles in my freezer.

:welcome: from Georgia. Nice start you got there, I see your truck has the optional dent in the passenger front fender  I believe that it was one the most popular options, all three of our trucks have it!
As my dad used to say, somewhere there was a horse that died a painful death from terminal constipation due to missing a key part of its anatomy.
