First Day of Pate

Post by Truckrat »

Sunshine, temps in the low 80s and 40 mph winds out of the southwest. Couldn't even put the shades up. Walked half of it and then went to Babe's for lunch. Dang they put on some great vittles.
Now I know what the Houston guys have been telling me about that place.
Chris (PFM), Dave (Wolfe), Brian Taylor, Gerald (Grits n gumbo), Lyman (Jeepbut), Brion (Bluebolt), and Myself TR), got baked and blown away out there all day. Also on hand were Chris's brother and Ben Norman and his dad and son. Tom (Flashback) and his wife and little dog came by and will be back tomorrow. Hope to see some more of the guys from down south tomorrow. Have a safe trip guys, and tell Skip how much he will miss. Will update this tomorrow. Seen quite a few Slicks for sale there, and some pretty decent deals. TR

Unfortunately I won't make it, I had planned on being there. Usually a great meet, or at least it used to be when it was at the museum, years ago. Very layed back in those days hope it is now also.

Now you're getting personal and its pissing me off. Everybody gets to have fun but me.
Gary, when Max goes to get the stailess tailgate handles, if he can't get the insert (Obsolete might not have them) ask him to shop around for me and see if he can find them somewhere else, like maybe Dale's Mfg.
Also, I'll call tomorrow if I think of anything else.
But if you guys see anything I can't live without, call me.....
and I hope it freaking rains on your asses..... ROTF.
Enjoy the beer, BBQ, and BS.
Wish I were there.

Well, my "buddies", BroncoTom and Max called yesterday and made fun of me for not being at Pate for the first time in years.
Not only that, Max took a bunch of my money for parts I ordered from Obsolete Parts, and couldn't even spend it all.
They were out of stock on several intems.
So obviously, I didn't get everything I needed.
But since he didn't tell me what he did get, today I'll get to have Christmas in May.
I can't wait.
Seriously, I think they all had a great time. Wish I could have been there.

JC.
You'd better be careful what you wish for.
If you want ugly, I can do several Rolling Stones classics, but as for my voice, think Rosie O'Donnell.
I don't think you want to go there.

I am really going to try to make it next year. I know exactly where it is and was always either in the field or overseas and could never make it. Next year though I will do what I can...sounds like a great time!

Friday and Saturday turned out a lot better weather wise, and I got to go back to Babes again with Max, Tom, Brien, and Gerald. We all pigged out on the chicken and sides and had a few pieces left over. Brien took them back to the hotel for a midnight snack. Had a great time at Pate again this year and already reupped for spaces for next year. Chris tells me there will be more than we had this year. Hope we can still get them all together like we have been. Would be great to see some of our Slick brothers from up north come down and hang with us. Are you listening Pat, Darrell, Chris, Greg, Gerry, et al? TR
