Five years/ off subject

Skip, glad to hear you are still doing well. i remember you talking about it at the time,hard to believe that was 5 years ago.
no comments on the test, you need to follow your own instincts on that. only time i go to any doctors is when i absolutely have to ,even then i am quite reluctant.

Me too. A few years ago, I finally caved in at the behest of my wife, when I gave myself a hernia. Over a 2 year span, it gradually got worse. One day on the way out of a movie theater, it felt like I had been stabbed & there was a nice lump protruding...that was the last straw, my wife made me go.

Getting felt up for a hernia problem (especially when you're in pain) is definitely no picnic & apparently that lump was an intestine trying to exit my body.

Getting my nether-region shaved by a queer male nurse was certainly something I hadn't counted on either.

It's not uncommon for me to have funky pains & feelings, but they always seem to work themselves out...well, except for my back pain.
I'm 42 now & I suppose I'll go get myself checked one of these days.

i already have the push button above the navel.had it for several years, last time i was at the clinic , i was told it had not gotten any larger so i was still safe.as long as i dont cough too hard it usually stays in place.

Mine was quite a ways below the navel.

It used to really burn most of the time & a couple times a day, would feel like a stabbing. They put a mesh screen over the area & it seems to be working about 90%.
Now & then when I really overdo it, I'll get that familiar burning feeling back & I try to take it easy for a few days...I don't want a repeat.

Congrats Skip and MANY MANY more happy years. Your honesty and candor are refreshing. Too many men try to hide these issues because they feel it makes them somehow less of a man. Unfortunately my Dad fell into that category and it cost him his life. After he passed away his doctor told our family that if he'd only come in for a routine check, or even sought treatment at the first sign that something was wrong he probably could have made a full recovery. He died at age 60, 1 month into his retirement. Hey, We're all human and we're all gonna go sometime. That said, it doesn't have to be at the point in our lives just when things are supposed to get fun.

I got mostly the response I was looking for.
Thanks for all the good wishes and good words, but I wanted every one of you to be aware of the problem.
We are NOT bullet proof.

If I'd gotten checked two years earlier I'd have been fine; six months later and I'd be dead.

Forget all the horror stories, urban myths, and excuses you hear about the checkup. Suck it up and be a manly man (or woman).
Get your ass (sic) checked, now. I want to meet every one of you in person one of these days and I can't do that if you're tits up looking at grass roots because you didn't get checked.

Hey Skip congratulations!! Glad you're doing well and spreading the word. I had a colonoscopy several years ago for some problems I was having. Everything checked out ok. The prep was the worst part, the procedure itself was a piece of cake. I'm probably due for another checkup, thanks for the reminder. Guys - there's no excuse for not getting yourself checked, suck it up and to it!!
