ricky, that reminds me of when i was a kid from 6 til i was 9 i lived in harker heights near killeen.
we were out from dawn til dusk all summer and had to get home when the street lights came on or you would hear mom yelling at the top of her lungs for us to come in.
hang ten t-shirts and cut off shorts and tier tread sandals.
when we weren't jumping our huffys off of homemade ramps we were fetching golf balls out of the municipal golf coarse pond for 5cents each.
one of the other cool things to do was to stand in the middle of the street bare footed and see who would run off first. lol. grass never felt so cool after doing that.
i really liked living there and i miss it.

Its funny that you post that today. At dinner today (the twelve oclock meal) I was in a local eatery when a man walked in and ask a friend did Jeat yet. (did you eat yet) I told my mother we have a language all our own. So much of what you posted is so true. The Aussies are just as bad. I have a couple of Aussie friends that come to the US for the ATHS truck show every couple of years and although they speak english I can hardly understand a word that say when they get to talking. I am sure that when I talk to another local they have just as hard a time understanding us.

I hope I always stay crazy, because I know if I ever become sane, it will drive me crazy.

I attended the National high school rodeo finals, in Springfield IL in 2001, a young girl serving me, asked me to repeat myself 3 times ( can I have 2 hot dogs and a lemonade please!), to which she said OOOOOWWWEEEE I love the way you say that!
Greg`s partner Rose and I had a good chin wag at SS3, even Greg couldn't understand Rose!, once we got going!

My old friend was a Scott with a very Gaelic drawl he married a girl from deep Kentucky. She would have to translate when they go out to eat, the waitress would ask ,,...... and his wife would repeat it to him without the kentucky in it and he would answer she would then translate again without the gaelic drawl.
We worked together for a long time and I would have to walk around the office with him to translate for those who could not understand too.
And for the Texas thing my wife feels that all the snakes live here in Texas, she is from Indiana.

Ezer, I know Harker Heights very well. We lived in Copperas Cove towards the end but spent most of the time living on post. I'd like to agree the most with #27. In the 6 years I was in Texas I never met more people loyal to WalMart in my life. You would think Christ himself was there baptizing people. And there is no safe time to go for us non Texans wanting to avoid the crowd. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, WalMart in Texas is packed
