a riveting expose

Post by ICEMAN6166 »

Max got me started on this when i cut him a bed floor piece.
this thing must have been pretty messed up to get a whole new factory replacement side and roof.
it was all riveted on with pop rivets.
they look ugly on the inside.
hope someone did not pay a lot for that repair.there were not that many rivets in the bedside, and it only took 1 hit with a sharp chisel on each one to pop them.

If it makes you feel any better, my short, styleside bed had a side grafted on as well. We figured that out when I had it sandblasted as to why one wheel well had the customary dent in the bottom and the other didn't. What is strange is, it almost looks factory as there are absolutely no noticeable welds on the top or bottom that would give it away. Only the front of the bed where it wraps around can you see the cuts. But everything is spot welded as it should be.
