Spent a couple of hours washing the frame with por's marine-clean, then rinsed it all off. After that dried, I sprayed the frame and tank with por's metal-ready which is an etching solution for the por paint. When this dries, I'll start painting. I'm ready to get paint on it so I can start installing stuff back onto it.

Looks like you got some pretty clean stuff there. Nice sandblasted frame and clean looking 9" back there. Nice work on the tank.

Thank you Alan. I think I had told you before that I wasn't gonna sandblast, but changed my mind and went for it. It cleaned up real good. It really doesn't look as good in the photos because after I washed the frame with the marine-clean, I got some "flash rust" in different places. Then, I used the metal-ready, and got some discoloration. I called the POR company and ask them about all this and they told me it was normal. They said the discoloration was a chemical reaction between the metal-ready and the frame steel. They also said the "flash rust" was actually a good thing, it would help give the paint something to hold on to. Just don't feel right painting over rust!

That is normal. As long as the "rust" changes from brown to black, it is no longer rust and has been converted.

Should be good for any kind of paint.

I sure hope so! lot of prep work just to have the paint peel off after a few months.

Looks like it's coming along great. BTW, my front clip removal was horrible, every bolt had to be removed with torch heat, Sawsall or torched off completely.

Yeah mine was no fun either. Had to use the sawzall a lot. I'm at the stage to paint the frame but I have had the flu for the past couple of weeks and it's been near 100 degrees with high humidity, just haven't felt like working on it after being out in the heat all day with my job. BUT, went to the doctor today, got a shot and some medicine, and I'm off all week next week, so maybeeeeee I can get it painted.

haven't had a lot of time to work on my truck, but did get a few things done. Here are a couple of photos.
Here is the painted frame and mustang tank. I need to blow the dust off of em.

front brake, backing plates, before sandblasting

I-beam, control arm before blasting

cleaned up parts ready to be painted

I have painted all the front suspension parts and have started to install them this evening. I'll try to post some more photos tomorrow.

Thank you Gregg. I was trying to get the stuff put back on tonight. I got the passenger side I-beam, radius arm, coil spring etc....done. Started working on the drivers side, realized I had put the i-beam pivot bolt in backwards. So I had to take it out, then hit my dang thumb with the hammer

.........so I figured it was time to come inside, and wait till tomorrow. I did get the bolt put back in, in the right direction!

Looking at your clean frame and chassis pieces makes me wish I had gone ahead and done the same with mine, especially after working underneath mine all day. Looks real sharp! Hope your thumb feels better.

LOL, thank you Don. Believe me, a complete teardown was not my initial intention. I was only going to replace the windshield, recover the seat, and replace the motor. But, one thing lead to another. I guess if I can figure out how to put it all back together, it'll be worth it!

got the front suspension parts installed. New bushings, new shocks, new coil springs. Got all new brake components and gonna try to get them in this weekend. I would like to have a rolling chassis in a few days!

I got a little bit more done. Put all new brake shoes, wheel cylinders, and hardware on the front, along with new wheel bearings, seals, spindle nuts, etc......

Guess I should have gotten new dust caps, both of mine are a little bent up. I want to go through the rear axle now and replace brakes, hardware, bearings, seals, etc...........
