We were supposed to trailer the truck home from the body shop today, but....... the paint supplier sent the wrong paint.........and the glass company broke the new windshield as they were loading it
. I'm just happy the shop didn't burn down too. Hope to pick it up next week and begin reassembly. There's plenty of stuff to do in the meantime.

Our family has been busy lately, but not too busy to sneek in a little work on the 'ol truck. The grill has been preped and painted.

The truck came back from the body shop last night. It turned out pretty well. There are a few runs/imperfections that Tom said he would fix in a few weeks. Due to lack of storage and kids running around everywhere, I set the grill in place with a few screws and slapped the front bumper on. Now begins the reassembly phase....
I couldn't wait to see the dash with the crome strip on it, so I put it on for the picture.

I left the wiring and the heater in the cab. I'm going to pull the stick shift and the heater box out and clean those up too. They would really stand out now!
I found a gauge cluster from a larger period f-truck that contains the ammeter and oil pressure guage. It was very clean and i plan to combine my speedo with those gauges. It came with a tach too. I'm still thinking about that one. Anyone need an air pressure gauge?

I've been working on the doors in my spare time these last two weeks. I have found the door seals to be a real pain! Lining the doors up was made easy by following the washer imprints left on the door when they were removed. Unfortuately, I noticed the paint was kind of thin near the passenger wind wing after I put the wind wing and division bar in
. After I get the door latches on the driverside back in and get the lights hooked back up, I'm going to drive it back to the body shop to have a few things fixed. It is fun to watch the 'ol truck come slowly back together. I also enjoy showing my mom the progress when she and my dad come out to visit.

Isn't it lots of fun when it starts going back together with cleaned, painted and new parts. To me, thats the best part of doing one of these trucks. Your truck is really looking good.

I've enjoyed following your progress to this point. I also like your photos of your family's participation and the lovely countryside in the background, too. I used to live around there in the late 70s between Atascadero and Templeton.
The Wimbledon white is such a pretty white. I really like that you still will put some color in the cab, too. I am doing a color change on my F250, and from your photos I am inspired to try a tan-colored dash to go with my tan Mustang seats and Rod Doors headliner I got a deal on a while back.
With the family linkage and interesting engine/tranny combo and cool paint, you got yourself something pretty special!

Well, progress has been slow. I've ordered what I hope to be the final batch of parts to finish off this phase of the restoration, save for the new wheels. I did have a few hours last night, so I worked on my gauge panel. I purchased a gauge panel out of a large f-truck a few months back that also included a tach and an air pressure gauge. I'm still thinking about the tach but I obviously will not be needing the air gauge.
I used TR3 Resin Glaze to bring back the black paint on the speedo. My wife was kind enough to allow me to use the kitchen table for assembly, as my work bench is still to full of parts to be usefull. Now for the wiring.....
