got one of my doors painted, but how do you get tape adhesive off a door that isn't clear coated yet? I had to tape off some areas for a two-tone look. the tape residue stuck to the blue. Im afraid if I rub wax/grease remover on it, the blue will come off? yes?no? soap and water?

anyway, its a custom cab, but I dont have the trim, nor the panels. There are lots of extra holes, but till i get some money to buy all that, I used a little or Icemans (Brian) door scheme, and some of oldtrucks (Mikes) scheme.

If I do buy the trim and the panel, i'll just put them over the stripes and leave the bottom. The access panels will be blue as well.

note: Kids foam letter stickers work great at rounding out a line. Took some letter O and cut them in half, stuck them on at the end of a strait tape edge and boom, easy rounded lines

I'd consider filling those extra holes with pan head machine screws painted blue so they kinda blend in & look like they're part of the "structure" of the door. Your average Joe at a car show wouldn't know the difference, just us & we won't give you a hard time about it....

Sorry - I've got no clue on the tape issue. Only time I've ever two-toned anything, I waited days, if not weeks, after I painted the first color because I was paranoid about that possibility.

Doors look good try some simple green on the adhesive.

oddest thing on the white part of my doors. I went back and looked at them after sitting for 6 days and the white part shrank. I don't know what happened but it shrank, you can see marks where it moved. almost like a glacier retreating. too cold when drying in my garage?

Doors look nice Gregg... I agree with Rusty on the pan head screws... will give it a more finished look.... Glad to see some of us are making progress...

I agree; the doors look great. I hope the paint didn't shrink too badly.

the white shrank pretty badly. It was put on over the blue, which was put on over primer. I'll have to sand the white part and just make it all blue like before. oh well, live and learn

repainted the doors all blue. I wasn't meant to be fancy with two tone painting. I did get the gauge cluster repainted again. the Chrome paint I used wasn't holding to the plastic so i stripped it off and went with plain white. Got all my knobs back in the dash and working on the steering column paint, and the steering wheel.

I must have ADD, cause i have 3 pieces of the pie all going at the same time. doors, floors, brakes

took a different route on the gauge cluster. I had repainted it in chrome, but it wasn't holding, so I redid it in Wimbledon white, I like it better

thanks I was really tempted to try something new, using a gauge cluster from a 63 falcon. The gauge cluster layout is the same and it has a cool trim to it that is similar to the 65.66 custom cab, but i couldnt' find one cheap

Use the blue tape when you are 2 toning it doesn't stick real tight and comes right off and doesn't leave anything behind. Did you use the same brand og paint for the white as the blue? Otherwise just let it cure some more and re-mask and repaint at a later date.

I like the way your door looks so just be paitent and keep up the good work

not much to report lately. I did finish up one door though, and got the photos of the accessory mat I bought off ebay. I need to get the other door sanded, primed, sand, and painted, then the fun task of shoving all the door guts back in it.

awesome, just in time for the other door.

I bought new screws for the access panel. I bought white gutter screws and the white is pretty close to the white in the dash.
