Finished painting the 66- been a long 7 years- going to rhino coat the bed this fall/winter.

Looks great.. I sure like that tailgate. I know its from a bump but I was thinking they all had the fake wood decal.. Did you strip and paint? Please tell us more.

I will try to make it to the next SlickStock, really wanted to make the one in KCMO last year but was out of town at the time.
The tailgate cover came with the 66 when we got it- I knew it was from the early 70's , it originally had a woodgrain decal in the center and flat black on the outside . We stripped it with aircraft paint stripped, primed with with etching primer, ford cardinal red and clear coated. I though it would be hard to do but my son is pretty good at things like this and he had it done in no time.
The grill is actually painted with aircraft paint. My sister in law who worked for a local aircraft maintenence repair and service company, took the grill to her shop- blasted it with crushed walnut shells, primed it and painted it beechcraft/cessna med silver and I'm here to say she did one heck of a job and was it a nice surprise when I got the grill back.

Pretty truck, I would think your very happy with it. Nice touch with the tailgate.
