I plan on coming by on Saturday afternoon. Beth has been doing work with an accountant during tax season and they are doing a meet and greet with a small car show on Saturday. We need to go as it could be some good contacts for me for some tile work (and more car guys) as the accountant is in with a wealth management group.
I will be by after that on Saturday. Save me some pizza and beer.

good idea on the big back window conversion you wont be sorry you did it I know i'm sure not sorry we did it.If you do it right hardly anybody ever knows it was even touched. The only guys that know are the die hard slick guys.On the frame cutting though :? when you go to put it all back together the bumper, hood, fenders are all going to be 2 inches to high or am I just missing something? are you going to cut the frame again to lower the bumper and core support to where it should be?Just curious.Keep up the good work......man I wish we had that kind of sheet metal here in the rust belt!!LATER

front roll pan and...

Post by azratrod »

hey chad,
ill take all the advice and pictures that you can spare from your bbw conversion. garbz knows what hes doing but im still terrified to cut these cabs up. the front cross member will be lowered to match the frame drop. it will all meet up perfectly.

also, i got my big truck front roll pan that i got from garbz over to my buddies blast shop. hell hit it with some soda tomorrow then ill get it into primer and mount it this week.

also also, i got my petronix electronic ignition today for the y block. that should help her run even better

thats cool.I thought that was what he was going to do with the frame.I am always scared when you start cutting and welding on frames.I hope it all turns out good for you.as far as cutting the cab up...that dont bother me as much.I am trying to get my dad(wyatt)to do one on his 4x4 but we cant find another donor roof. The way I figure we can do it in half the time it took us to do the first one.dont know though..we will have to wait and see if we can locate another roof first.Good luck on your project I will be watching your progress.Give that old coal cracker(garbz) a kick in the butt for me  Oh ask him about the trip to georgia :D you will get a laugh out of that one...lol.LATER

Cool build - keystone suggested that I ask what are you doing with that little back window section. If it is not promised away yet I would be interested in purchasing it.

today ups delivered:

-ez wiring kit
-1/8" rubber floor mat from lmc
-new steering column hardware from dennis carpenter
-complete hardware kit from stainless

today i traded for:

-a vintage shlitz beer cooler. im going to put my battery in it and mount the whole thing in the bed.

frame horns

Post by azratrod »

so during the scattered rain storms today, the "mad slickologist" and i cut off the '64s front frame horns, shortened the frame, and we also dropped the radiator core support mounting holes. this way the radiator core support will drop to match to the rest of the body that has lowered due to the frame being cut

75* out today so we got more done

Post by azratrod »

the front f350 valance is remounted.

garbz cut the bottom sections off the core support where the radiator mounts to and reinstalled them to the top of the core support where the radiator mounts to make it taller. we had to do this because when the front of the frame horns were notched we needed to raise eveything else.

the truck sits so low now that the drive shaft hits the frames cross members. we had to notch around and box the crossmembers.

the 4" lowering blocks and U bolt hangers got installed and well be re C notching the rear of the frame.

i measured from the bottem of the frame to the ground and the distance is a mear 9 inches!!! this is one hell of a low truck

Question;
Why did you use the later style raised roof with the BBW?

bbw roof

Post by azratrod »

i like the look of the 2 creases on the roof. keeping the 2 creases in the roof was also done to see how many guys caught on to it. its a subtle touch that the regular truck guy wouldnt catch. a true fan of slicks that knows his slick body styles will catch it
