My new 64 SW

Post by Ron R »

I just picked up a clean 64 SW box. It has no motor or trans. Got the truck for cheep and plan on making a cool driver. Not sure what route I am going to go yet, but the plan is keeping it all under 2k. The truck was 500.00

Thinking about 3 inch blocks for the front axel, lower the rear 2 and add some 10inch old school slicks and some skinneys up front. Going for a gasser style but not sure yet.

Plans for the motor are un known. But would like an auto and might do a junk yard 460/C6. Nothing super speed just fun. Not planning on a drag truck, just a run around cruzer.

The old owner took the motor trans out for a correct date code motor for his car. Not sure what it was, but he said it was a Big Block.

My first choice would be a 1997 12v cummins. I have done a few before but the cost is to high..[/img]

With a 64 your original engine would be a 223 - 6, 262 - 6, or a 292 V8.
Gasser look would be cool for sure and a used 460/C-6 would give it enough wow to back up the looks.
I would look into some different springs on the front though - blocks & or shackles wouldn't be very safe up there especially with some power. A pair of rearched F 250 springs would get it up some too.
1964 F 100 - I am going to do "something" with it.......
