Power antenna

Post by loosrp »

Anyone one here put a power antenna in the factory cowl position? If so what did you use and where did you puchase it? I wish I just would have welded that hole up but it's to late now..

I have seen them insatlled in many other cars & trucks....but not a slick.

I have seen people mover there antenna inside using one of those hidden ones. To fill the hole they used the little chrome plug that fills one of the switch holes in the dash. They used some seam sealer to seal it up. Also seen one painted to match.

Take a look at one of the compact units made for street rods. If you can get it into a Model A cowl it should fit in a Slick's.

Don't you go through the vent doors on the inside?

Personally, I don't want anything outside the truck that some cretin can come along and screw up. My antenna is mounted to the inside of the windshield.

Power antenna in '65 F-250

Post by aeromech »

I installed an aftermarket power antenna in the right cowl panel working through the passenger side foot air vent and heater duct openings. As I understand it the antenna were dealer installed so the location the the hole may varry from truck to truck. Installation came out nice and clean and protects the antenna when not extended and makes use of a car cover much easier.

Thus the reason for adding a power antenna..[/quote]
