Do these go on my slick?

I don't remember taking them off but they were in with the parts from my 66.
Their's 2 of them and the truck is almost all together, Thanks . Tom

Yes. They go between grill and radiator. There supports for the upper valance that runs above the grille.

The small end bolts to the core support, the larger end fits on either side of the hood latch underneath the upper valance, straight side towards the radiator.
Their (should be 2) purpose is structural support for the hood latch, and tie it into the core support which is of course bolted to the frame. When you mount them they will both face the same way. You will need to be sure to use some good fender washers with them too so the loads are spread over a wide enough area.
The 62 has no grill in it right now - I can probably get you a pic of them in place tomorrow if no one else posts one.

Hey Hiboy. Where did you get that parts diagram pic ? Manual or something? Would love to have one for my 65.

Greg D - Better explanation than mine. I knew where they go but wasn't sure of actual part name. I can't wait till I get to the part where I'm putting mine back on. That will be a while :cry: :shock:

Breezeman try this link for your parts breakdown on your truck. I got it from the FTE web page. Bill NumbersDummy supplied it. www.hipoparts.com. Yes that pictorial on the front ends came from a 3 book set service manual for 61-63 Ford trucks I found it at a large truck show and swap meet years ago back in the day when I started on my 63. The front end sheetmetal is all about the same 61-66 some differences on the inner fender sheetmetal on the later models 65-66. Good luck.

That is the best use for LMC catalogs, second best is when after a intense session sitting on the throne in the "reading" room you realize that all of the toilet paper is in the other bathroom!

Ive got a beat up lower grille panel for you if you want to try straightening it out. Check my getting back to it build if you want to see it. I just picked up a straight one on the 65 im parting.
