Was Power steering a option for F100 truck???

Post by jhewitt »

Recently found one that I will be removing to use on my setup, wondering if it may be original, it has drum front brakes and automatic, BUT the automatic has been added since it still has the clutch pedal.
Thanks

The Bendix power steering was optional in '66; the Ford box wasn't used until sometime in the mid-'69 production year.
The Bendix box has 4 bolts on top of an aluminum cover.
The Ford box has 2 on a steel cover.

There were a Bendix Power Steering & Power Brake option available for the 61-64 truck too - Dealer installed I think.
I know a guy who has a 64 SWB with both of them.
I should see if I can get some pictures of them to post in the Memorabilia section.

Power steering option is shown in the 1961 truck manual.
It would probably be more common in the larger trucks

It does not matter what you think, it only matters what you do about it!
