Jag.suspension

Post by merc uni »

Just finished re-reading Matt2491's exellent piece on Jag series 111 front suspension. Really good. A whole Jag of those years can be had for pretty cheap,so the next obvious question is can the rear suspension be adapted as well ? I have never looked too hard at these cars ,so I have no idea

The Jag IRS with inboard brakes is the stuff.
What did he find appealing about the front?

If the Track Width on the front is OK, the back is probably fine too.

With a welder and enough steel, anything is posible.

Matt (MattsIaSlickshop) put a jag rear under his Merc. I saw it once. Pretty "slick" setup. These are VERY popular with the street rod crowd. Maybe he will see this and post if he is off his Dyna long enough, lol.

I thought about doing a Jag IRS in my truck when I first started the project. I even found one but changed my mind. The main reason, for me, was that the Jag uses 2 coil over shocks on each side. That raises the price up pretty high when you know that you will probably need to change them to aftermarket street rod coil over shocks. My guess is that it would ride well.

The main appeal of the Jag suspension swap is ease of installation. That and they handle pretty good.Doing any brake work with the 'caged' rear end in the car is a huge PITA.
