I have been debating whether or not to post this but, I can't take it any longer.I joined this club for two reasons.I love Ford trucks, especially slicks ,and I do not agree with anything other than a Ford under the hood.Now there are two in the projects section with brand x engines in them.What gives?I was under the assumption that this was an all Ford site.If I want to see this garbage I would have joined the HAMB or some other bogus mainstream media club.I surely am not the only one that feels this way.Am I?

probably not. it's getting to where seeing a sbc in a chevy is boring.

I'm not really sure how to answer your question.
99.9 % of us agree with you.
BUT.....
Since we can't really police what people do to their Slicks (its their money and their truck) we tolerate those who stray from the true faith. After all, brand X motors are cheap, that's why people uses them.
But I think if you'll check closely, you'll see we don't encourage that kind of blasphemy here and while we're usually respectful to their project as long as they don't get obnoxious about it, they tend not to stay with us very long.
And even when someone strays, they usually turn out to be pretty good people or they don't stay around long.
You just hand in and you'll get all the true, bleed Ford Blue you can stand.
I don't like 20/22" rims, air bags, hydraulics, etc. but it isn't for me to choose for someone else.
Just do your thing and keep us posted with your progress. There are a lot more of us than there are of them...... 8)
And pictures.... did I mention pictures? We need pictures.

GOOD GOD, CALL THE POLICE. Obviously someone is holding a gun to your head and making you read those two particular build threads. I am not a Policeman, but I am pretty sure that is agaist the law. Now take your chair and push away from the desk real fast and knock the burgler down and take his gun and hold him until the police arrive. Well my funny response has always been at least that bowtie motor is getting to be wrapped in some nice sheet metal for once !

I have been in this club awhile, and I can tell you..some arguments come around over and over, and if you think it gets ugly in the open, it can really be tough behind the scenes trying to keep good people from nearly self destructing ... I am just glad Kid puts up with my nonsense

I prefer the ford in a ford concept. On the other hand you do with what you got handy. I look at it as another truck saved. Some of those guys on the hamb have amazing talents regardles of there engine choice.

I joined in July because a friend suggested that there was a great site to exchange information, discuss builds, etc for 1961 to 1966 Ford trucks. I didn't know they were referred to as "Slicks". I was unaware there was a rule that required Ford engines only.
My first truck was a 1962 Ford that my dad gave me, with an 8' frame and no bed. He was a contractor and and the truck had a utility body which he sold. My uncle owned a wrecking yard in Bakersfield and he gave me a short step side bed. I had to cut the frame, driveshaft, etc to make it fit. Not bad for a 16 year old kid working in the garage! I painted it in the garage too. (It came with a 292, 3 spd)
I have built many cars in the years since. All brands, all engines, using just whatever seemed to work, or what I had accumulated.
My current 61 short uni was put together with a camaro subframe and rear end ($300 for the whole car) and a "Brand X" engine, AOD, computer, etc. I traded excess truck parts for the complete engine/trans set up.

I put this truck together because I like it and I drive it.

I thought this was about sharing the passion for the trucks themselves, not the engines.

I apologize for not knowing that there was a mandatory engine requirement and will not post again.

Luckily I managed to stay out of this one by some fluke.
I overstated my piece about this here before, and everybody, including me is tired of it. Kid has enough to do during the day without me adding to his troubles.
So I'll just say I agree with Skip and move on. Except you can substitute flames that don't look like flames and snorkel hoods to his list of don't likes.

people always amaze me. Fords, chevys, mopar, hudson, nash, studebaker or just whatever. they're all cool cars and not one is better than the other. If one person wants to make a part or motor from a chevy fit a ford then what's the problem with that? I find that if it's done well and looks right it can be a work of art.

I can only hope that their intolerance of certain vehicle types doesn't carry over into other aspects in their lives....

I don't remember any criticism of Kevin's temporarily placed SBC (complete with a Blue Oval on the throttle body) in that beautiful 63 he has so excellently executed.
I personally wouldn't do it but a nice truck is a nice truck, nice is a nice car - depending on the type of build then a run what you have engine is period correct even if not brand correct.

Greg, I think if you think back a bit!, Kevin did cop a friendly ribbing over the motor at SS4!, and we determined it was a injected Y block!. Other than that! who gives a toss!, just don`t ask me to do it!!

I would like to appologize to all.After reading all of the replies to my original post it has made me realize how small and narrow minded I have become.I guess that sometimes as we get older we sometimes lose sight of the big picture.While an off brand engine may not be my taste,who am I to critique.As Greg said a nice truck/car is nice no matter what powers it.No matter what brand you are faithful to we should stick together for the admiration of classic autos.I will promise to behave in an more adult like manner from now on.
