can anyone say if it will be problematic getting the aluminum stripe resecured once I get around to a paint job

those pieces are just held on by a clip and a small bolt, the clips and be bought new if they are rusted.

Just in case you did not know To remove and reinstall the cowling trim- remove the floor/side vents inside the cab and you'll see the nuts that hold the trim in place. I had to ask when I was working on my 66.
