Engine swap help needed

Post by F1001964 »

Hello all, new to the boards and can use some direction. I am wanting to replace my 292 Y-Block / 3-speed manual with a 302 or 351 and an automatic. I have concerns with fit, motor mount position measurements, tranny support brackets, etc.

Is there a website or a guide you can share that could help me figure out the measurements and clearances for this kind of a swap? I would hate to buy the new engine and tranny and have problems with exhaust or other clearances.

Any help is appreciated.

:welcome:

can and has been done, you will need aftermarket crossmembers which are available

i would suggest looking thru the projects and builds section to get some ideas.

Those mounts are perfect! thank you soo much. Quick follow-up question, Do I still need to be concerned with a rear sump or is there enough clearance with these mounts to put in a forward sump 351?

Thanks again. I found a 351C with a Cruise-O-Matic and want to know before I buy, came out of a 71 Torino.
